computerwizkid Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 I need help.I recently used TugZIp ,but I uninstalled it and went back to WinRAR.Since I uninstalled it,I can't open cab files using the normal CAB viewer built into Windows.I need to get this fixed so I can start back on my project again and WinRar is not good at CAB files.Please tell me how to set cab files to open in the built-in CAB viewer.Reply as fast as you can.
ldb Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 1. Find a cab file2. Hold shift key down and right click on the file3. Choose "open with"4. Scroll down the list until you find cab file viewer5. Be sure "always use this program IS checked6. Click OKor Reinstall cab file viewerThis in not Microsofts fault.
computerwizkid Posted November 12, 2007 Author Posted November 12, 2007 There is no Cab file viewer entry in the Open With.. Dialog.The viewer is run in cabinet.dll.
slipk487 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 im not sure if this is correct but it would be a command likerundll32.exe cabinet.dllorrundll32.exe cabinet.dll,"specific function in dll file with out the quotes"
eidenk Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Start Menu -> Run and type regsvr32 cabview.dll
ldb Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Oops, sorry about that. I vaguely remember installing it years ago so I thought it was a program. Now I remember that it was part of the Win95 powertoys. Most of these were installed by the inf files so if you can find the cabview.inf file and right click on it and choose nstall, that should also work. I use Izarc which does not do a half bad job with cab files.
