ausun Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 I have a Samsung Q1U with Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed. I created my own vista disc based on the DVD shipped together with the machine. After installing it to Q1U I got some problems.1. The touch screen works. But when trying to open Calibrate in control panel I got a complain “Failed to enumerate digitizer devices”, so I can’t calibrate the touch screen.2. Tablet Input Panel won’t launch. Nothing happens when clicking the TIP button on the task bar.3. Vista can't be activated with the product key printed on the rear of the machine.4. Cursor keeps switching between arrow and arrow-glass. It seems some application is running in the background and taking some CPU time. I turned off the indexing service but it doesn’t help.5. The unattended installation for Computer Name doesn’t work. The following lines are the contents of my Last Session file. Is there anything wrong with my configuration? Thanks.; vLite preset file[information]Version = 1.1 beta on 2.0.50727.1378 Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2Target = Windows Vista HOMEPREMIUM 32-bit [Compatibility]ACDSee / XnViewKMPlayerAero GlassInternet ExplorerScanners and Cameras[Components];# Accessories #AccessibilitySnipping ToolSpeech SupportWelcome CenterWindows Sidebar and GadgetsWordpad;# Drivers #Display adaptersEthernet network adaptersModemsPrinters-ApolloPrinters-BrotherPrinters-CanonPrinters-CitizenPrinters-DellPrinters-DiconixPrinters-EpsonPrinters-Fuji XeroxPrinters-FujitsuPrinters-Generic printerPrinters-GestetnerPrinters-HPPrinters-IBMPrinters-InfotecPrinters-KonicaPrinters-Konica MinoltaPrinters-Kyocera MitaPrinters-LanierPrinters-LexmarkPrinters-MinoltaPrinters-Minolta-QMSPrinters-NECPrinters-NRGPrinters-OcePrinters-OkiPrinters-OkidataPrinters-OlivettiPrinters-PanasonicPrinters-QMSPrinters-RicohPrinters-SamsungPrinters-SavinPrinters-SeikoshaPrinters-SharpPrinters-SonyPrinters-StarPrinters-TallyPrinters-TektronixPrinters-Wipro ePeripheralsPrinters-XeroxScannersSound controllers;# Games #Game ExplorerPremium Inbox Games;# Hardware Support #Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI);# Languages #JapaneseKorean;# Multimedia #Media CenterMovie and DVD MakerSample PicturesScreensaversSideShowWindows CalendarWindows Media SamplesWindows Photo Viewer;# Network #Connect to a Network ProjectorInternet Information ServicesMSN InstallerWindows Collaboration;# Services #DiagnosticsDistributed Link Tracking ClientError ReportingMicrosoft DFS ReplicationRemote RegistryUniversal Plug and Play (UPNP)Volume Shadow CopyWindows Search;# System #HelpIMAPIv2 Burning SupportMicrosoft AgentNatural LanguageParental ControlsPerformance CountersReliability and Performance MonitorSecurity CenterSync CenterSystem RestoreWindows BackupWindows SATZip Folder[Options]Show extensions for known file types = Yes[Protection][Drivers]E:\vista\Drivers\Lan\b44win.infE:\vista\Drivers\Wlan\netathr.infE:\vista\Drivers\Graphics\igdlh.infE:\vista\Drivers\HDMI\IntcHdmi.infE:\vista\Drivers\Sound\HDA.inf[unattended][Hotfixes][LanguagePacks]
nuhi Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 I will check the TabletPC requirements but those issues 3,4 and 5 are yours to take care of. I assure you that vLite can't tamper with the activation. Computer name could have some not-allowed character, test the same name after the install. Let me know if you find the cause.

Let me know if you find the cause.Thank you!I will try to figure out the cause for issues 3 and 4. For issue 5, I set the computer name to AUSUN-Q1U and verified the values in Last Session_u.ini and Autounattend.xml. But during installation the computer name field was pre-filled with AUSUN-HP which is the name of the computer I create this disc with. So weird?
nuhi Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Hm, maybe you installed on another partition or folder so it actually dual boots the old one?
ausun Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 Hm, maybe you installed on another partition or folder so it actually dual boots the old one?No. My hard disk has two partitions, drive c is for OS and drive d is for storing data. I don't have an external DVD ROM so I put the vista source files to d:\vista and booted the computer into Windows PE with a USB flash disk. Then I formatted drive c, copied the vista boot directory and boot.wim in souces directory to drive c, made drive c bootable with command 'c:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt60 c:', reboot the computer, and started the installation by typing the command 'd:\vista\sources\setup.exe' in rescue mode. During installation the system prompts me for the names then I can change the computer name back. It is a small but weird problem. I suspect it is because I didn't start the installation with the setup.exe in the root directory.
nuhi Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Nothing can change your computer name without your consent, unless you put * for random name.It could be that your Windows have it integrated, OEM setting of some sort. Branding maybe.
