xenon2050 Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I played around with nLite a few months back, but I kept getting File Protection problems so I decided to use RyanRVM to integrate and then I just made my own registry file to apply tweaks with. But I have a question, I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but what is it that causes the File Protection problem? Is it integrating the updates or drivers? Or is it the tweaks or removing of components? The reason I ask is because i really like how nLite integrates drivers. It works so much better than just using the .SIF file to do so. So my question is basically, can I use nLite for just adding drivers and building the ISO and not worry at all about the File Protection? If not is there a way to more or less easily integrate drivers into the windows install CD? The reason I ask is I have a computer that needs SATA/RAID drivers to recognize the hard drive, but I don't have a floppy drive and don't want to put one in so I want to integrate the drivers for that. But it would also be nice to integrate all the driver not just the SATA. I have visited the Unattended Guide and used their method but it just doesn't work as well..

xenon2050 Posted October 8, 2007 Author Posted October 8, 2007 Okay well I ended up using nlite to add SP2 and the RVM update but I used http://www.driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/ to add one of their mass storage driver packs. Thanks for the reply.
nuhi Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 That's excessive to integrate all drivers if you need just one or a few of them. I don't see how can insert button be that complicated.
xenon2050 Posted April 4, 2008 Author Posted April 4, 2008 I hate to revive this topic but I looked through a bunch of posts I made and realize that I never saw this response...The reason I didn't want to use nLite and just figured the driver pack would be easier is that I really don't want to deal with Windows file protection and although you laid out what causes that I really wish nLite had a option to disable all Windows file protection breaking features. I'm not the only one who uses my computer and it is possible that my wife could install a program that screws up important files and without the file protection that could potentially leave me dead in the water... And leaving it on gets the annoying pop-up all the time. I really like nLite it makes thing incredibly simple, I just would rather be safe then sorry. With driverpacks the disc has the added value of being able to work on my future computers, well at least to boot them which is the only drivers I would want to load automatically anyway.
