aspenjim Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Does vista cache the setup files.... something like the i386 directory XP uses? I'm trying to free up some harddrive space and am not finding many disposable files and dir's. I asked before and didn't get much of an answer to this.... Is there anyway to move the hibefil.sys file to another partition???
MagicAndre1981 Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 DON'T TRY TO DO THIS UNDER VISTA!Vista saves the files into the WinSxS folder, but you can't see what files are save.
aspenjim Posted September 29, 2007 Author Posted September 29, 2007 (edited) yep.... 2.8 gig. so can i use a erd disk and safely delete them? or will they repopulate like the dll cache of xp? or worse.... prolly hose my vista install? Edited September 29, 2007 by aspenjim
MagicAndre1981 Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 as I said, don't do it or you will destroy your Vista!
Grope For Luna Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 There was some discussion of this on Neowin earlier this year. I did a little poking around and found a lot of large files I could delete like the sample videos, pictures and whatever junk I didn't use. Make sure you know what you're deleting.
