Murdoc2k Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Hey guys I know it's a stupid question but by default, where does Vista copy its source files to during installation?v-lite asks for it and i don't know where it is.
mara- Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 (edited) There is no copying by default. OK, there is, but Windows delete that files after installation. You need to have vista installation disc and to copy installation files manually somewhere on hard drive and then to select those files with vLite.Cheers Edited September 20, 2007 by mara-
harmlesscat Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 You need to have vista installation disc and to copy installation files manually somewhere on hard drive and then to select those files with vLite.I am having the same problem. I have an HP computer, which did not come with a Vista installation disk. It lets you make a series of 'Recovery Disks' (set of 3 DVDs). I have just copied the contents of all 3 of these recovery disks to my HDD, but vLite won't accept either the main folder or any of the subfolders as valid for the installation files. It gives an error "can not find the expected files..."The folder that looks most promising is one called 'preload', which contains several .wim files. There is another directory called sources and another called boot. But I tried all of these, and several other directories, but vLite will not accept any of them as correct for the vista installation files.Does anyone have any insight into specific file names it is looking for? That way I could search for them to find the directory that contains them.
