September 12, 200718 yr It could be the fault of indexing service or the search service. Disable them by typing in the run command: services.msc, and disable those services and see if it helps. Other then that it could be the Virus-scanner...
September 14, 200718 yr Author Thx Punto MX, i found over 110 files when I ran the services.msc.Some are related to my AVG anti virus software.About half are started auto and the others are manually started.Where to start?Barney
September 15, 200718 yr First google a bit please . This was the first hit I got with google and it explains pretty well how to disable indexing service. Take a look at it, I’m sure you will find it interesting .
September 16, 200718 yr em...Office 2000 also has a self-startup shortcut called "Microsoft Office 2000 Fast Open" in Startup Folder...I usually delete this shortcut...because my PC usually open some programs slowly after start this shortcut several times....Strange....I don't know if this problem has due to this...However...vista search service default is set to personal folder and Start Menu Shortcuts...
