Chez Wam Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 (edited) Hello nuhi. I love nLite for years and now i love vLite. But is it possible to make vLite a multithreaded program ?Because it never use more of 50% power of my dual-core opteron 170. The bottleneck of the complete process is the integration of updates which take about 30min whith my processor. My RAID0 is not limiting but the processor is always at 50% of use.I think it could be difficult or impossible. Thanks for your apps. Edited September 2, 2007 by Chez Wam
aviv00 Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 nice idea i ask nuhi long ago i dont remember what he said
Chez Wam Posted September 2, 2007 Author Posted September 2, 2007 I post this because i think some power user (who mainly use vLite) will have quad-core processors under 1 years (intel or amd) and if the application is miltithreaded it could be better for the futur.
nuhi Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Yeah, only problem is that during integration it depends on MS integration routines, so lets hope they make it multi threaded. What I will eventually upgrade is processing and component removal which can take long on 64bit installation files.
Chez Wam Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 ok.It's not very important if the component removal is the only thing which can be multithreaded.Only if you have time to code it.
