Mijzelf
Could it be ntoskrnl.exe? On my system (W2000) there is a copy in \System32\dllcache and one in (Windows)\Driver cache. The file in use is in System32.
eyeball
Hi,you could just do an inline repair of it, insert the windows cd, boot from it, press enter to the first screen, F8 and then r to repair the installation. This should replace all of the windows files with the ones from the cd.BTW this will remove all hotfixes that are not slipstreamed onto the cd, so you will have to reinstall themgood luck! In those cases, Windows isn't corrupted and if you lower the processor clock or increase the Vcore, Windows will boot like nothing bad happened. Was that PC's processor OC'ed at all? It may be because of bad PSU a bad processor or bad RAM.

gosh
Remember that ntoskrnl.exe depends on how many cpu's you have. If you have multiple cpu's setup renames ntkrnlpa.exe to ntoskrnl.exe.-gosh
