Baldy Posted August 23, 2007 Share Posted August 23, 2007 I purchased a HP computer (12 months ago) & it came with Windows XP installed.My problem is that it keeps turning itself off,then restarts.I use AVG Professional which is updated every dayI have downloaded Windows Defender to try & see what is wrong,it shows that the computer is working correctly?Is this problem common? Check for bulging capacitors - the tops and sides of them should be perfectly flat.Disable automatic restart on BSODs - control panel->system->advanced tab->bottom settings->untick automatically restart. as1308 Posted August 23, 2007 Share Posted August 23, 2007 i had this problem once when i foolishly connected to net without using antivirus ..... i had infections of valla32 virus which dels system files and makes copies of itself .... my xp was restrting in abt 5 min so in that time i installed macffee and did system scan... and eureka .... virus found (>500 copies )PROBLEM SOLVED !!!
