XP keeps turning off & restarting

Featured Replies

I purchased a HP computer (12 months ago) & it came with Windows XP installed.

My problem is that it keeps turning itself off, then restarts.

I use AVG Professional which is updated every day

I have downloaded Windows Defender to try & see what is wrong,it shows that the computer is working correctly?

Is this problem common? How do I rectify this problem please ?????

Check temperatures with SpeedFan: http://www.almico.com

Check for anything loose inside your case. Check for bulging capacitors - the tops and sides of them should be perfectly flat.

Disable automatic restart on BSODs - control panel->system->advanced tab->bottom settings->untick automatically restart.

i had this problem once when i foolishly connected to net without using antivirus ..... i had infections of valla32 virus which dels system files and makes copies of itself .... my xp was restrting in abt 5 min so in that time i installed macffee and did system scan
