I'm typically fairly good at figure things out... but this one has me stumped.

I'm trying to install XP on my SATA drive in my new laptop and I was convinced I could do it through the BIOS.

I changed my drive from SATA to ATA in the BIOS and successfully installed XP.

Now.... I would think I need to change this back?

When I do, XP can't boot.

I've copied all of the drivers into the folder but it still doesn't work.

I'm also open to slipping the drivers into my XP disc, but I'm a bit confused as to how to do this.

I've opened the XP disc in nLite and selected my tasks, drivers and bootable ISO.

The next screen asks me to load the drivers.

There are two that download from the dell site:

iaahci.inf

iastor.inf

I load the first one and am asked (under textmode) how I want to integrate it. I have NO CLUE. lol. Can anyone offer assistance?

I'll take either solution.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello first dont use nlite for driver packs (IMO) i have never gotten them to work right. Go to driverpacks.net and get the packs there then use DriverPacks BASE to integrate them. Works every time.

Then use nlite to create your bootable iso.

I had the same trouble with SATA. I just disabed it in the BIOS I was so frustrated and fed up with it! Works fine for me and if the laptop is a snitch slower than with SATA I don't really mind. Check my step by step guide on installing XP if you have further trouble. I wrote down all the steps after I went to this hell by myself.

I'm really hoping someone can hel out with this.

I installed XP on my M1330 by disabling sata in the BIOS. After install I read a guide on the net (which i can't find now!) to tweak a driver setting by a digit or two.

Rebooted and enabled Sata - everything fine.

Problem is ever few days - just randomly I get a nice BLUE SCREEN with the following error.

STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x89B06908, 0x89B06A7C, 0x805D13B6)

Can anyone shed any light on how to stop this happening?
