can't boot to cd after nlite install

Hello,

I recently assembled my new computer and used nlite to slipstream the SATA drivers. It worked fine.

But I'm trying to install Linux on my system too and I notice that I can no longer boot into cd, even

the original nlite cd I made! I've also tried the linux live cds too. On my laptop, I can boot into the

linux cds so I know that's not the issue.

I looked at the boot order in the BIOS, it's set to SATA dvd first, and Hard Drive second. I even tried

disabling the hard drive in the boot order so there's only the DVD drive, but it still won't boot into it.

I just get the error "Insert System disk. Boot failure". I'm using the Abit IP35 Pro mobo btw.

It just seems really strange that I can't boot into cd anymore. My nlite slipstream was very simple.

I had an old XP pro (no service pack) and I just added the SATA drivers, that's it. Could nlite somehow

have messed with the BIOS, to cause this problem? I doubt it, but I can't think of another reason.

Does anyone have any ideas?

thanks,

andrew

Well I'm not Nuhi, but I can guarantee that nlite didn't mess up your computer. You said yourself it's a computer you just built, did you try checking the cables? SATA cables tend to fall out easier than ide (from experience). It is also possible you happened to get a bad dvd drive/cable/motherboard...I would check out those things first.

Good luck.

1) Check in BIOS if the drive is detected.

2) if yes, check in your OS that the drive is detected and that it can read your CDs. Probably not.

This looks like a hardware problem.

Hi,

I took a closer look at the boot list in my BIOS, and near the bottom, I found an entry for

"TS-xxxxCD/D" which I realized is actually the SATA dvd drive. I had previously used the

"SATA DVD" option for this.

Anyway, now when I boot up, it finds the DVD correctly. Guess it's just a dumb user error.

Sorry to think nlite may have caused this. It really is a great tool and worked perfectly.

Thanks,

Andrew
