[Word 2003] - Dropdown Field help

Hi!

Can anyone help with Dropdown Fields? I've got a document with a dropdown field containing a bunch of names.

What I've been trying un-successfully to figure out is how once the user has selected one of the names in the list I can get that name to automatically copy down to another area of the document.

I've tried using the Ref Field function, but I can't get it to update it's field when the document is protected - which it has to be for the dropdown field to function correctly.

I've also dried using the cross-reference function, but that seems to have the same problem as the Ref field.

Any advice would be most appreciated!
