doggitydogs Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( :( I CAN'T GET THIS ****ING COMPUTER OF MINE TO DO A ****ING THING!!!!!!!(started happening after I installed an external 80G hard drive, they're supposed to be R: and L: drives.)
DonDamm Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 First remove the extenal drive, then in device manager there uninstall the device driver and remove the samsung drive - remove the other one while you're at it. Then reboot and al let it find new hardware and install the driver. Test the dirve then to see that it works. Reboot and check again. When in doubt, clear the boards and and build it up new. :^)
doggitydogs Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 (edited) I tried that already. Edited August 2, 2007 by doggitydogs
IcemanND Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 open regeditgo to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}Rename UpperFilters to oldUpperFiltersRename LowerFilters to oldLowerFiltersRemove the CD's from the device manager and then search for new hardware and let them be readded. See if they work, if the do on of the filters installed is missing or corrupted. Usually one for your cd burning software.
doggitydogs Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 Look, I am not editing my registry. (or, I will first thing after a backup. )CD burning software? I use Windows' built-in, thank you.
IcemanND Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 That was "USUALLY" not always, there sometimes even the windows filters get corrupted.Export the key first before you modify it if you so desire. Changing this key will not prevent windows from booting, and the reason I had you rename the value name is so you could just change it back if it didn't fix it. If I had a dollar for every time I did this and fix a code 10 or code 39 error I'd be vacationing in a much cooler location right now.
