RJM Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 I have been having a problem lately with the AtiTool .26. Before gaming I start up the AtiTool which I have set to set my fan speeds from 50% at 50C to 100% at 60C and with the X1950XT you can hear the fans when you start the AtiTool. Twice last week the fans did not start up, so I went into the fan control section of the tool and the fan speed was 0% and grayed out but all my settings for fan speed and temperature were still there. The first time I had to reboot my computer once for the fans to work with the AtiTool. The next time I had to reboot it twice. I thought it was the drivers that I was using because I had just installed the DNA drivers based on the ATI 7.5's. last weekend and was going to install the ATI 7.7's this weekend. Then I saw this over at Tom’s Hardware.http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/243902-3...g-crash-atitool Have any of you seen this problem?
puntoMX Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I saw your post asking about a good cooler to replace your stock one. I know your card died now. Has this any thing to do with your problem?
RJM Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 (edited) Yes, it answered my question, it was a hardware problem. It's been a bad weekend for me and computers. On my backup computer, a PIII-600, it looks like the hard drive is failing, the 2.5 year old WD800JB 80G hard drive locks up 3 out of 4 times while booting into Windows and WD's Datalifeguard does not recognize it as a Western Digital drive. It's a good thing it's a dual boot system the other two 10G Maxtors still work fine and I can boot from them. My next spare is a PII-400 and I don't want to go there! Edited August 7, 2007 by RJM
