Windows Messenger without .NET

Hi

I want to use Windows Messenger without integration with .NET (of my user account on the system) but when I click on Sign In the .NET Passport Wizard comes up.

Kindly help.

Regards, touchstone

And you know what I cannot even log into Hotmail through hotmail.com because the first time the same Wizard popped up. I cancelled it. And now when I resubmit the login page, an error page comes up.

I have two accounts

1. Administrator with another name

2. Guest

And I didn't know why Messenger sign in stopped throwing the .NET Wizard popups but I was glad and signed in.

Now in the Control Panel -> User Accounts I see this command alongside my account settings.

"Change my .NET Passport"

which means .NET Passport has been enabled with my computer account.

:-(

How to remove it?

Im not to sure what you want to do...Do you want to remove MSN messenger? or just change the account that you login to for msn?

Can you plz clarify what you mean? thankx:cool:

Hmm I don't want to remove the account. I want the .NET Passport associated with the account removed, only. Like I just want to use Windows Messenger to log into the Messenger server so I can talk with my friends or at best click on the square popups to go read emails.

I don't want what the official documents say "automatic login to .NET enabled Web sites and Web services..."

Thanks and regards

I'm not an MSN Messenger user but what you are asking for seems like quite a tall order. The whole point of Microsoft's new messenger is to incorporate everything with .NET.

As far as i know, if you have MSN messenger installed and you goto a .net enabled site....it will login, i dont think there is a way around this. Heres an idea remove it using this links methods http://xp.modrica.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=74

Then use a program called trillian found here-http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/, which uses the msn chat program as well as yahoo, aim, icq, and irc. With out msn messenger on your system the sites with .net enabled will not auto log you in..but you will still be able to chat with your friends and you will get the nice little email notification

Thanks very much folks. I understand unless I remove Windows Messenger I cannot rid myself of the autologon .NET feature.

Hmm lets try trillian...
