Internet Connection Lost after Resuming from Sleep

I just reinstalled XP SP2 and noticed a problem that wasn't occuring before reinstall.

After resuming from sleep, my internet connection is lost. I can't browse the net. Networking (file sharing and printer sharing) works, however. Only internet is broken.

I've tried repairing network connection and releasing IP, then renewing IP but no go!

Does this have anything to do with resuming from sleep? If so, then why do file/printer sharing still work?

(Oh yeah, it's a wired connection. My wireless on laptop works fine when resuming from sleep. Only 1 of the 2 wired desktops have this problem.)

What bus interface does your network adapter use? USB?

Do these clients connect to a router or other managed device? If so, are you using any type authentication/security?

It's an onboard card. I have an airlink router. laptop connects though wireless. my two desktops connected through wired.

no authentication/security for wired.

but for wireless, using security (WPA) - and there's no problem with wireless. problem with wired.

I think I found a work-around: I disabled "Allow device to power off to save power" in device manager seems to have fixed it. However, I never messed with this before so I'm not sure why this is a problem now.

(This is a home network so but your questions seems to indicate I'm talking about a corporate network??)

I've heard of the option you mentioned work for USB devices, and that was my guess as to your problem. People have had issues with Sleep for as long as it has been around.

I wasn't talking about a corporate network. I was just throwing out ideas for things that could be causing your issue...these problems are hard to nail down sometimes.
