Where I live I have no cable and no Phone. how do I pick up a wireless signal to access the internet. Do I need to purchase a wireless router! I tried to pick up a signal but could'nt get one. gamehead200 Posted July 10, 2007 Share Posted July 10, 2007 Well, no. You need some kind of Internet access; satellite, DSL, Cable, or Fiber-Optic. You can't just get a wireless router and expect that the Internet will just work.If there's someone in your area that's broadcasting a wireless signal, then MAYBE you might be able to pick it up, but that's illegal in some states (at least I think it is).
