Guys I installed Windows Vista Ultimate before couple of days, but the whole time while vista is open i can hear and see my HDD working, performance is stable but i wonder why is that!! is it something working on the background which i can disable?!! Hi, today i bought WD Passport® Portable Drives 120GB, but i dont know how to open it really!! i dont think they made it sealed!! please anyone can help me to open this thing!! or if u have an idea if its sata from inside or not!! because i need to swap it with my laptop HDD..

u can uninstalled from add or remove programs when u check that box, anyway this is a link from microsoft it may help http://support.microsoft.com/KB/875350

Go to control panel > Go to Add or Remove Programs now look up there you will find a check box called show updates, check that box, you can see all windows XP updates now to uninstall. Choose Service Pack 2 or any update u want to uninstall

offcourse XP doesnt have a DNS thats why i'm using HOSTS, i dont have to anyway but i cant access my server with the name.. have to write it as IP my main PC is XP too i dont think it works as DNS but what i mean i didnt face this problem before, i mean to use even HOSTS, i just browse my network and find all PCs then i can access them, now i cant, i can only with the IP not with the name

its just because it works with me with the other PC why i think its from the dns(hosts), the file which i edited is the hosts file in etc dont think its .SAM my problem is i can access the PC i wanted with the IP by \\198.192.24.56 but i cant get into it by the name so i went to the HOSTS and i added >> 198.192.24.56 MY2NDCOMP << with a space between and no arrows, but still not accessing with the name.. any suggestions?

Hello guys, question: anyone knows how to force Windows XP to read the DNS from the loacal HOSTS file? I edited but still not reading from it i guess, though my DNS addresses kept empty in TCP/IP configurations while my IP is static..

Hi guys I have 3 PCs connted to a switch, all WindowsXP pro, one of them is my main PC(server) and i need to connect to this PC from the other 2, after setting up all IP addresses and everything, now i can see my main PC(server) from my other 2 PCs when i browse but i cant access, then i found i can access the main PC(server) through IP, I noticed its a DNS problem maybe, so i edited my HOSTS file in one of the PCs and i added the main PC(server) address and name, then it works. I tried the same thing with the 2nd PC to access the main PC(server) but still i cant even after i edited my HOSTS, i think something wrong which makes my PC not to read the HOSTS file maybe, what u think i need really help, actually this is a small example i did about a big network at my company.. Helppppppppppppppppp if i'm not clear pls tell me to clarify

iM gonna stick with AVAST i think its fast stable and it looks really cool..

Hello again guys, i know i'm so much hehe but after last trojan i been attacked with made a mess on my PC, anyway, now its clean and everything seems back as normal, but now my problem i keep losing my Drives Default shares as C$ D$ E$ F$ each time i restart my PC, so i cant access them till i share them again. Hello again guys, now i have a lil problem in my network, i have a PC and a Laptop WindowsXP Pro installed on both with the latest updates, both have same user name and password in a WORKGROUP, i been able to access my C$ and D$ before, i dont know what happened now, each time i try to access my other C$ or D$ it tries to login me with a guest user with a login showing Guest user and needs a password, but before it didnt ask me for anything because i'm an administrator on both and i'm sittin both with same logins. any idea guys? pls helpppppppppp, my firewall is off btw.

Hi, when i open my computer > tools >> it must be there Folder options tab, but its disappeared, i found the same thing on few PCs at work though, is that a group policy been applied or what exactly, how can i solve that problem or if its a policy what is it called heyz ya all

Open ur System32 folder located at your windows folder, you should find 2 CMD files, (cmd.exe, cmd.com), that cmd.com shouldnt be there, just delete it with brave heart try it now * this in case only cmd is not working at run *
