  1. Follow the instructions from http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/200...02/5846181.aspx Works for VS 2008 and should do the same for VS2005. Cheers
  2. Hi, I have found a soluition to the problem. If anyone else has the same problem follow the link below to resolve it. http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/200...02/5846181.aspx Cheers Shaun
  3. Hi, I have already posted about a problem with VS 2005 Pro here http://www.msfn.org/board/Microsoft-Visual...l=Visual+Studio I have now moved onto VS 2008 Pro and am getting the exact same problem. It seems to be related to Windows Installer 3.1. Below is the last part of the log file. I can't attach my complete log file as when I hit the broswe button IE locks up (The machine I am writing this from is not the machine I am trying to deploy VS 2008 too ) When I run the VS 2008 Setup manually it completes without any problems. I'm trying to install it onto a PC running Windows XP inc SP3. I have checked Event Viewer in the Application log it states: Product: Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition - ENU -- Installation completed successfully. I have just read Microsofts install guide again and found reference to Network paths not exceeding 39 characters. The path to the Windows 3.1 installer on out network is 90 characters. I think that's the issue. Could someone please confirm? 4. Hi, I'm having some problems installing MS Visual Studio 2005. I have followed the microsoft guide from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812820/en-us. Gone through the Admin Mode, created the ini file, copied all the files to the Network etc. When I run the install command \\server\share\path to setup /unattendfile path to unattend.ini Setup launches silently and installs some files into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio & C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8. In total about 60Mb, then exits. When I check Event Viewer App log it states Product: Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition - ENU -- Installation completed successfully. It is definitely NOT on the system. I have checked the logs for the install in %temp%. The log is attached. Near the bottom it states that Windows Installer 3.1 had a fatal error during installation error 1603. This I assume is whats causing my problem but I don't know how to fix it. I am trying to install this onto a machine running Windows XP with SP3. I have run the install manually and it worked fine. I would really appreciate any help as it's begining to annoy me now!!! Thanks Shaun VS_2005_Log.txt
  5. Hi, I'm having a strange problem with the silent install. I have successfully silnetly installed Photoshop CS3 once on one PC using a script. But now I can't install it on the other machines I need it on. The shared components are installed pertectly but Photoshop CS3 won't install. Even if I run the installer manually it says it can't install but doesn't give an error code. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's driving me mad. Thanks Shaun
  6. Hi, I have successfully silently installed Photoshop CS3 using the above method. However when I run the program it opens but I get the error attached. Is this because I am using the wrong license code, do I need a Corporate code? This is driving me crazy, I would really appreciate some help. Thanks Shaun CS3_Error.doc
  7. Hi, Thanks everyone for the responses. The Hotfix has been applied and everything is working like it should. Thanks again. Cheers Shaun
  8. Hi, I'm having problems with our image. It works correctly on a Dell 745 & GX270 (Optiplex). When I use the same image on a GX620 or GX280, Sysprep will freeze (on the please wait screen) just before it kicks into Windows mini setup. If I restart the system it will go through completely fine. Does anyone have a fix for this, it's really begining to bug me now! Thanks in advance. Shaun
