  1. Use W2K and nlite on an HFSLIPped source myself, ever since.

So I know, at least a little bit, what I´m talking about.

    Let´s start from scratch.

Enable JScript, go back to Tomcat76´es Site and read it again.

Especially the link "the instructions" !

    You will find :

It is not possible to slipstream SP1, SP2 or SP3 for Windows 2000 into any version of Windows 2000. These Service Packs are unsupported by Microsoft, and Service Pack 4 does not come with the "problems" that some people have with Service Pack 2 for Windows XP so there's no need to go through the extra trouble of supporting an earlier Service Pack for Windows 2000 in HFSLIP.

    So you just need SP4 ! ;)

Now check the appropriate boxes and ONLY download the shown files + the recommended ones.

Put them in the correct folders and you should be good to go.

If you plan to run nlite afterwards, you need "HFSLIP_POST_getnewfiles_v3.zip", but you don´t need all the isocreating stuff, because nlite will do that for you.

There are several options to get .NET into W2K, the easiest is Tomcat76´es Silent.NetMaker, but I don´t know about the actual status of this program.

You have to have .NET2 installed, if you want to use nlite.

    Should I integrate W2K sp4supporttools.exe ?

If it´s not explicitely mentioned, No !

    Just the reg.exe, if required.

But you can keep the supportfolder, because there is lots of usefull stuff in there. ;)

e.g. the mslayer.exe for the compatibility mode, but this folder won´t get updated, so you have to download the actual files via MS.

    Hope, it helped.

    P.S.:

(My W2K build is original with no SP's)

Wish, I had one of these (mine has SP1 in it).

Found one on ebay once, but it came to over 60$, just for the CD !

  2. @Nuhi

Would be nice, if you could change the "Licence Agreement Box" to all, by nlite supported languages.

Maybe by grabbing the default language off the OS or modifying the box, as OpenOffice did it.

So the user has to scroll down and read, before the installation starts, by clicking on the, now unblocked, "finish" button ! :)

  3. No, I´m not, sorry !

But phoenixlabs are just using Bluetack´s level1.gz and don´t create the Lists themselves.

So this should be the correct Link to report to :

    Bluetack FAQ

But also look at this :

    forums.phoenixlabs.org

It´s important, if blocklist.org is ever up again.

    Hope, it helps !

Would have registered and posted there, but I didn´t know the complete IP range for HFSLIP.org, sorry.

  4. I´m not quite sure, ´cause I don´t have XP, but :

One source could be, that you´re using nlite in Vista, to create an XP CD.

Another one could be, that "Manual Install and Upgrade" was removed and "Start Menu-Do not use Personalized Menus" was selected, even though you´re integrating personal themes.

Definitely the nvidia driver will not work, if it was extracted with doubledriver !

Same may apply to the other driver.

    Edit:

You didn´t turn off SFC !

  5. ???

    So I ask myself.

    1. Am I missing something ?

    2. What´s the question ?

    3. Is the command not working ?

    4. What are you all talking about ?

    1. YES, a Last_Session.ini !

    2. Nice, eyecatching text, but no description.

    3. don´t know, see 1.

    4. are you online chatting or PMing ?

    simple removal of "comandline tools"

  6. Well,

in between your posts, there´s a nice suggestion/ option for the next version.

What about a different folder, nlite copies to ?

As HFSLIP is doing it, not touching the source folder, but creating the sourcess folder.

    But it´s using Temp...

Like the optional question as wucd is doing it :

"Work in the sourcefolder or copy."

  7. You remembered, that if you check something, than it´s gone, not kept ?! ;)

Wish I´d comprehend my KUBUNTU better, but my W2K is stable as well, if I don´t mess it up with tests. :)

If the new computer has SATA, no wonder why...

  8. That´s what I´m testing and failing, ever since.

If I´m installing from original W2KSP1 CD, there´s the choice (but you have to hit the "back"button) :

"This computer is in a company network"

"No, this computer is privatly used and not in a network". (checked)

No standard networkcomponents will be installed.

  9. I´m a little  if it works, when you nlited the support folder ?!

As far as I remember, NetMon is in there, so in this case, you have to use the origigal CD, to grab it from.

If I´m wrong, please correct me.

  10. @FlipFlops

Still don´t know, what you guys are doing, it´s working flawless for me, ever since.

Don´t think it´s the NetDDE, in your case.

You removed lots of drivers and components, but didn´t integrate any own drivers or hotfixes.

Did you use an already nlited source ?

If your using SATA, it´s obvious, why it fails.

Btw. this thread is for windows 2000 ! ;)

  11. I´m just curious, why somebody wants to slipstream the whole stuff.

I´m glad, if I can get rid of the defaults and any other crap, but nvida and logitech are bringing it back.

There are too many default profiles.

If you need gaming .dlls, grab them, when you need them.

There is no need, to have 1GB in autostart for gameprofiles and another 1GB just for forcefeedback controllers, you are not using.

...For Games, you don´t even want to touch.

    So, bog down your computer...

  12. So, it´s an XP only thing (don´t want to call it a problem, ´cause in my oppinion, XP is a problem itself, that´s why I still use W2K :) ), but as Nuhi already said :

99% (SCSI/ RAID) drivers are already removed anyway.

And personally, I´d remove all drivers (so far as possible with nlite), if I´m integrating my own (definately working) drivers, just to give XP not any chance, to install it´s own.

Checked the other thread again, so I do understand, finally.

Had an XP for tests, with the 1.3.5, from a Linux user, but gave it back.

For W2K nomally, I´m using HFSLIP, to create the source and run nlite on it afterwards.

So most drivers are gone already.

    Only problem is the printerdrivers.

    EDIT

Seems, I´m too slow/ tired to type.

But have to stay awake another 24 hours...

  13. Sounds nice ! :)

During the tests, I saved them in a different folder, with looooooooong filenames, ´cause otherwise there was no possibility, to find out "which witch, was which witch" (IE, OE removed, no addons, HFSLIPped and nlited...).

Personally, I don´t like using presets again and remove them immediately*, ´cause they mostly won´t work with a new release, but for testing the same version, it´s o.k. .

    Agi

*just from nlite folder, not from CD, otherwise the guys (especially me :D ) in german-nlite.de forum go spare, if there is none, to find out, why installations went into BSODs or simply stopped.

  14. Did my first tests.

First on an HFslipped source with and without IE, OE and other unnecessary stuff.

Second same as above with addons.

    PERFECT !!! :thumbup

Same tests, just using nlite :

    PERFECT !!! :thumbup

    as well.

Checked with and without COM+ and NetDDE removed in different constallations.

Still can´t produce the hanging while "saving settings" :)

Have to do some deeper tests though.

Forgot to check, if the HDDs are running PIO only, instead of "auto" UDMA and couldn´t check the removed writeprotection, yet. :blushing:

But seems like a perfect job so far.

    Thank you Nuhi !!!

    P.S.:

Used the regular .NET2, ´cause I didn´t know about the status of the FrameworkLite 2.0 R3 and wanted reliable testresults.
