  1. Hello everyone, I have a simple question. Recently I have purchased an external enclosure case for 3.5 ide hard disk drives. It lets you connect your ata (old type) drive externally, through simple usb 2.0 cable. I found that computer takes it as a removable media/drive, thus my diagnostic software not being able to show drive’s health status, temperature, and de-fragmentation software not showing it in hard drives list. Basically as I see its being taken by computer as a simple usb flash drive. My question is: is there such software that will let me check health status, temperature and other info about my ata 40GB drive while it is connected through that external case? I think its an important thing because when this drive will come to it’s life end and I won’t be able to check health status, I will loose all my information before doing the backup. Thank you much.
  2. Thanks for reply friend. I think i found the problem that was messing my registry. Its this: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\CodePage] "1250"="c_1251.nls" "1251"="c_1251.nls" "1252"="c_1251.nls" "1253"="c_1251.nls" "1254"="c_1251.nls" "1255"="c_1251.nls" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontMapper] "ARIAL"=dword:000000cc [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes] "Arial,0"="Arial,204" "Comic Sans MS,0"="Comic Sans MS,204" "Courier,0"="Courier New,204" "Courier,204"="Courier New,204" "MS Sans Serif,0"="MS Sans Serif,204" "Tahoma,0"="Tahoma,204" "Times New Roman,0"="Times New Roman,204" "Verdana,0"="Verdana,204" It a registry file made by an Russian as*****.
  3. Hello everyone. Recently I have reinstalled from scratch my Windows XP SP 2 and did a registry cleanup after finished installing and configuring software. A weird problem occurred then. I am from Moldova and working as Internet Administrator I design WebPages and graphics using Romanian language. Frankly some of my essential applications like FrontPage and PhotoImpact are simply refusing to include such Romanian characters as ţ ş â î ă etc. Its pretty weird because other applications like Microsoft Office 2000 or even Notepad are easily accepting these symbols. Those applications I mentioned are simply replacing Romanian characters with western like t s a I a etc. Any ideas what I could I mess in the registry or what could be done to fix that? Thanks a lot in advance.
  4. Hi, Here I got some more info that could be useful in helping solving this issue. Many times (not every single time though) when I just insert any CD I get the quick classic Physical Memory Dump blues screen error message for a 0,5 second, than computer restarts. Also I have noticed that my CDROM would read only the first session of a multi-session CD, always. So I’d like to know if exist an utility out there that would let me teach explorer what session to look for as default, as I want that last session to be the default one. Thanks a lot.
  5. Thank much. Probably i will take the risk to upgrade device firmware Regards
  6. That's not the same thing as updating drivers, right?
  7. O, people, i feel this is actually a very welcoming helping community, and i must tell you, it feels really good Thanks for reply everyone. My DVD Drive is: QSI CDRW/DVD SBW-242 DVD-ROM/CD-RW DVD:8x, CD:24x/10x/24x and yes, i am trying to make it display all sessions of a multi-session CD, rather than recover data from damaged CD/DVD But its nice to know too what software is the best for recovering data from bad CD/DVD as well So, it looks like isobuster can recover data from iso track on my multi-session CDs, right? And if i got it right, WinISO is for editing ISO files, right?
  8. Hello everyone, I assume I have run into an weird problem since I have replaced my Normal Windows XP Professional SP 2 with Windows XP Media Center Edition, but I am not sure that it’s the reason. The problem is: my CD ROM doesn’t read all sessions of a multi-session CD, to be more specific it always reads always only the first session, no matter what CD I try. I think you will agree with me that it’s a pretty idiotic situation considering that I am on Acer TravelMate 290 laptop, with Intel Pentium M, 1400 MHz Centrino Mobile Technology (which means I am on a quite decent machine, not some old tractor) I always use Nero version 6, and in all other CD ROMs all sessions on my multi-session CDs can be read fine. Does anyone think there a solution? A registry key modification, latest CD ROM drivers, anything? Forgot to mention that even though CD ROM doesn’t see all sessions except the first one, I still can see and save all sessions using Nero session viewer or WinISO on the same Acer computer, same CD ROM If after all there isn’t a solution to fix the issue, I’d greatly appreciate a suggestion on which program like WinISO I the best for retrieving sessions from a multi-session CD? Thanks a lot in advance. Regards
  9. Hello, I am on IE 6 and recently I noticed IE would interpret default system fonts in a wrong manner. It would change default system font interpretation according to page encoding. If I visit pages with Central European, Cyrillic or basically any other than Western, pages default fonts are displayed correct. So seems to me that only Western encoding have problem with default system font. I assume some registry reference to system font is bad, because I have done all possible windows repair things and none helped. It is rather a bad registry reference than system font missing. Windows Repair has restored all system fonts, so it’s not about missing system fonts. I would like to know if there is some tool to check IE system font registry reference if all is ok. Or some tool to check the general registry references to system fonts. Can anyone help me? Also at shutdown menu, the font is strange: Thanks a lot. p.s. system reinstall is not an option for me, so please don’t suggest me to reinstall windows
  10. Have tried the classic theme, and didn't help. Deleted terminator front and as you can see, the system replaced it with another non-system font
  11. Thanks a lot enuffsaid, Yeah, a re-install does seem a bit drastic indeed. Everything seems fine, just as you say. But the problem is still there with terminator font and IE font display. This is desktop settings: I kind of feel that for sure the system somehow is taking that terminator font as a default system font. Looking for an utility that will check for such crap and correct it.
  12. Hello, I am not sure, but I think I have somehow messed windows xp native fonts that is usees for application menus and Internet explorer website display. First, shutdown dialog window font look weird, kind of terminator type font… Second, Internet explorer displays default fonts on WebPages different; I can see with my web designer eye it’s different. Any suggestions on how to cleanup the mess appreciated. Need to mention I just did a windows repair (upgrade) but that didn’t solve the issue. Thanks.
  13. I am on Access 2000. I would like to know how could I define the number of symbols that can be input in a certain field? For example in Home Phone field I would like to be able input more than 30 characters, but database doesn’t let me input more than 16. How can I change that? Thanks a lot. Regards.
