  1. I play a lot of online games and would like to start making videos of the game as i'm playing. I was wanting to know what some of the best ways of doing are? I know someone was saying MS Movie maker, but there has to be more than just that out there. Could use a litle help please.

    Thanks

Have you actually searched for it?

Use google and search for anything that's relative to what you're searching:

    -video editing

    -video encoding

    -...

Do you want to capture straight from your screen, or are you going to use a VideoCamera?

  2. Hi, I<m currently making an unattended xp installation. Everything work fin (Even the slipstream of sp2 and office 2k3) but I have a problem. My cdrom tree reside  like this (see picture).

Now, the files/folders into $docs and $progs aren't copied at all. They stay on the cd. Can anyone tell me why???

    Thanks

Where's the picture? (as you mentioned it....)

  3. I have yet to try this, but you can change the flags
    0x00000020

    Create Execution Log File

Create a C:\Windows\RunOnceEx.log file with status of commands

    REG ADD %KEY% /V FLAGS /D 0x00000020 /t REG_DWORD /f

I've tried to use an equal command to prevent error dialog boxes. It didn't work...

  4. That's just what you need.

Be sure, go ahead and burn on a CD-RW (so that you don't waste media).

Cool, I will give it a shot right now and see how it goes. Then it is off figuring out the sound on these Dells I deal with and do the same.

Yea, that's what I been doing untill I got everything I need to make my job more efficient . Get things done faster gives me to play more with stuff like this :).

For audio drivers, you could try my Sound DriverPack, which you can find in my sig!

  5. Hi everyone !

I searched the forum but could not find silent installation switches for Anti-Hacker. Does anyone know what to do ?

I tried unpacking the exe file and I get two msi files ( one issscript.msi and the application msi ) similar to Kerio Personal Firewall.

However, trying to run those silently did not work.  :)  I tried the usual /S /v/qn switches but without success.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

    Thanks,

    Alex

If you can't find any switches, you could search this forum for any VBscript. It's easy editable, so it'd prolly be easier!

  6. Is it possible to have the Intel Graphics drivers be install by using the winnt.sif? I am trying to install Intel graphics from chipset 865 but I don't see how I can extract the needed files from the setup.

Use a compression utility like WinRAR to extract it from the *.exe file.

  7. i have read the tutorial. It doesn't really talk about what driver files are needed.

If i was to open the device manager, go to a device, look at its properties, and then look at the drivers tab, would the drivers listed correctly portray the drivers i need to put on the XP CD?

Just copy everything except for unneeded files (such as .txt). I can't give you a specific list, but it won't hurt if you copy too many files!

  8. Yep, that was a good thought, but before i used it, i manually set it at a default monitor allready.

Now i did a try through the devcon tool: no device removed.

But i got to say that this is an interresting tool!

    Loaded with options.

I saw it was getting busy here tonight, so any suggestions left, or are we giving up on me and my IIyama monitor?

    @bashrat

eeeh.... can you point me also in the right direction for the iTouch/Mouseware??

did a search (!) allready, but no luck with those eather.

All I can say is I installed it using or InstallShield setup, or using a vbscript I made. Search this forum for vbscript, download one and edit to your needs. It's very easy!

    grtz

  9. how would YOU explain it?

(in other words, demo it as being better)

    Example:

    1. Currently an a64 is the only processor with the native HW tech. to prevent many worms/hack-attacks (resulting from memory overruns).

    2. Since a 64-bit platform can transfer data much quicker, BLAH-BLAH-BLAH......

it can render faster, carry out scientific processing quicker, install OSes sooner, etc.

@ Alanoll: sorry, but I really didn't get the point...

Okay, I think I'm getting the point:

    NOT compare

ONLY unique features or areas where it excells (if this word exists :))

Then I think you've collected about everything, not?

    EDIT:

    • NX (non execution feature)
    • Cool 'n Quiet
    • heat dissipation & power consumption
    • support for all instruction sets except for SSE3 (comin with the 90 nm A64)
    • ... and lots of things I forgot....

  10. Downloaded the devcon tool.

squezed it in my system32 dir.

used the following command line from my newly created monitor.cmd:

    devcon update "C:\Drivers\004_Monitor\Iiyama.inf" "monitor\HA202D"

    Outcome was:

Updating drivers for monitor\HA202D from C:\Drivers\004_Monitor\Iiyama.inf

    Devcon failed.

    :s

Perhaps you first have to uninstall the device in device manager? (Just guessing)

  11. Hi Guys. Oviously... im new, and this is my first time attempting to make a WinXP CD.

Im mainly stuck on the drivers part. I just dont know how to determine what files (drivers) i need to have on the cd for something to work.

What im really having problems with is my chipset, IDE, and AGP drivers. I just don't know what files i need to have on the XP CD. I have a nForce2 chipset, and a nvidia 5950 Vid card.

I installed both 61.76_winxp2k_english_whql.exe, and nForce_4.27_WinXP2K_WHQL_english.exe to seperate folders so i could look through the files and find drivers. But, being that i dont really know what im looking for.... this process is going very slow.

Can anybody tell me what files i should have in my chipset, agp, and ide drivers folders?

    Thanks for the help guys!!

Have you read the tutorial? http://unattended.Msfn.org Check the Device Drivers section

  12. Ok, and my quotes aren't working because.....?

    fixed em for ya.

Back to the topic in general....

Why is everyone giving him advice like he was buing the thing? This one is better because, this one is better here. He said he wanted ways to demonstrate that it was better, not reasons why it was better.

Demonstrating it is better, isn't that quite the same as saying: "you'd better buy THAT CPU because it's better here, the other CPU is better there"

I mean: how would YOU explain it?

(Or am I being such an id*** not understanding what your point is?)

  13. hehe, its about time "bargoens" is coming up in this topic!!

dan kunnen we nog eens iemand 'beseibelen'.. :)

And yes, there is a dictionary for it.

Bargoens? WTF Wat zit jij nou te lullen  enneuh wat betekent 'beseibelen'?

  14. I think it's a great idea!

But in fact I'm wondering how you wanted to keep this list updated? All by hand? Then it'd be almost equal to a fulltime job...

Also: are you mirroring all these files? Cause downloading all of them from their respective sites, would take hours I think (in case you don't have an extremely fast internet connection and/or you've added 20+ programs to this list).

Perhaps also an option to download this from a network server? But then we'd need another system to do this. (this could be great when you've got to install for example more computers a day, cause downloading all these updates twice or more...)

  16. -You're asking for POSITIVE comments on the Athlon 64 - "why is it superior".

-The answer to that is quite simple IMHO: there is (I think) NO superior CPU. Why: because each CPU (or most of them) are excelling in a couple of benchmarks, another CPU in other benchmarks. You've got to choose the CPU that 'fits' you: for what do you use your computer? And: what's your budget?

*Price/performance: there's no CPU that can beat AMD Athlon XP Mobile processors ON DESKTOP MOTHERBOARDS, by which I mean when they're overclocked.

E.g.: AMD Athlon XP Mobile 2600+, 100€ runs easily at 2.6-2.8 GHz with decent air cooling. Which gives it the performance of about a P4 3.2 GHz (270€) / Athlon 64 3200+ (220€)

As you can see, nothing comes close to this CPU, price/performance wise.

Winner: AMD Athlon XP Mobile, if only looking to desktop CPU's the regular Athlon XP

*choosing a CPU for a specific task: as you all might know, a couple of months ago AMD couldn't beat Intel in video encoding/rendering benchmarks. They even didn't come close! By now, this has changed: AMD's Athlon 64 3800+ is leading the benchmarks now! (note: of course the FX-53 is slightly faster, but as this is a server CPU, I didn't choose this one)

    Winner: AMD Athlon 64

*dissipated heat, power consumption: Of course Mobile CPU's are doing better in this one, but I'll leave them out of this. I think we've got again a clear winner: Athlon 64 has a great feature, better known as Cool 'n Quiet. This superb function makes sure you're only using the CPU speed (so also the needed power and heat dissipation) you actually need! This function may help to shrink your energy bill!

    Winner: AMD Athlon 64

*prolly I forgot alot of things

    Conclusion:

-if you're a normal user or a power user that's quickly satisfied, go for a Athlon XP or

    Athlon XP Mobile.

-if you've got enough (or too much) money, buy a Athlon 64 as it outranges a Pentium 4 in almost everything!

    hope this is useful...

    EDIT: longest reply ever :)

  17. 1. Since my motherboard / BIOS does not support (Standby) and (Hibernation), is it possible for me to download some software to enable the above functions? If so, where? [PS: Or is there any workaround?]

    2. Does anyone know what the following means in power management:

    - S0

    - S1

    - S2

    - S3

    - S4

    - S5

    :)

    1. Please specify what motherboard you have. A BIOS update might solve this problem.

    2.

    - S0

    - S1 standby

    - S2 standby

    - S3 standby

    - S4 hibernation

    - S5 poweroff

    still searching for other Sx...

    EDIT: found it: http://www.osronline.com/lists_archive/ntdev/thread2956.html

In Standby, the context of RAM is preserved by putting the RAM in

self-refresh mode, which uses a little energy.  In Hibernation, the

context of RAM is preserved by writing it out to a file on the disk and

then the machine is turned entirely off, using no energy, other than

that required to write the file.

On resume from Standby, the BIOS has a chance to run a little bit of

code.  On resume from hibernation, the BIOS goes back through a complete

boot.  The BIOS can be aware that it is resuming from hibernation, and

cut out some of the boot steps, but few BIOSes choose to do that.

From a WDM driver's point of view, there are five "S" states.  S1, S2

and S3 are all varying levels of "standby."  S4 is hibernation.  S5 is a

full power-off, with no context saved.  The differences in S1, S2 and S3

matter only when your hardware needs to wake the machine.  Some power

planes may be preserved in S1 but not S3.  (No motherboard designer

bothers to implement S2.  And many don't even support S3.)  So look at

your device capabilities structure (returned by the bus driver in

response to IRP_MN_QUERY_CAPABILITIES) if you need to know.

    Jake Oshins

(I wrote much of the code that puts the machine in standby and

    hibernation in Win2K and WinXP.)

  18. Create another partition on your hdd and install it there. Works faster and you'll be sure it's working!

now that is good advice, and I think I may just do that with my 1TB of hdd space. :D

Can you imagine how hard it is to fill that thing? Very hard.

Well, it seems you've got plenty of hdd space. You can always send me one of your harddisks, I can fill them for you if you want :D:) .

P.S.: I'll pay the transport costs!

    Edit: 500 posts!
