  1. It seems everyone has this problem. Even I have it. It's likely only a problem with Microsoft's XML file.

Edit: It can ONLY be Microsoft's problem. Like the_guy said, KB928090 for IE7 does not contain browseui.dll. KB928090 for IE6 does, however. The XML file does not distinguish between the two versions.

  2. :hello: I'm sorry HFSLIP has given you a lot of trouble lately. However, I would advise you to try the following things...

Recopy your SOURCE folder. Make sure you are burning your disc properly and the drive on which you are running HFSLIP is not broken. Are your hotfix and CAB files corrupt? Make sure your WINNT.SIF file does not have the .txt extension.

These are very basic and simple things, but you'll find out that they matter the most when dealing with scripts like HFSLIP. Good luck! :thumbup

  3. Here are some other things to try.

Recopy your SOURCE folder. Make sure the drive on which you're running HFSLIP is not broken. If you're doing a CD burn, make sure your discs are burned properly. If you're using VMware or some other program, try doing a CD install instead.

  4. :hello:RBCC!

You have a bunch of problems in your folder structure as Kiki has already pointed out. I'm just going to outline what I've found in case he's missed something.

    HF folder

    (1) directx_feb2007_redist.exe should be removed (you've already extracted the CAB files).

    (2) KB928089 for IE7 is replaced by KB928090 (which you already have) and should be removed.

    (3) What are all the IEUI2Kxx.EXE files for? I don't think they are supported.

    (4) If you want wmfdist95.exe, you need to extract that file ONLY out of WindowsMedia-KB891122-x86-ENU.exe into HF and remove KB891122 (which is no longer needed).

    (5) You have two copies of KB887472 and KB899591.

    HFCABS folder

    (1) You extracted everything out of directx_feb2007_redist.exe. Some of them are not supported. You can only have x86 CABs and the ones that contain the strings "d3dx9", "d3dx10", "XACT", or "xinput". All others will not be processed correctly at the current time.

    (2) Remove all EXE and MSI files. This folder is for CAB FILES ONLY. rootsupd_963ec3df48991128f4edd42c66f40f144720f759.exe should be moved to HF. You already have all other non-supported files in other folders. WGAPluginInstall.exe is not supported.

    HFSVCPACK_SW folder

    (1) IEAWSDC.CAB is a CAB file. You already have it in HFCABS. Remove this.

    (2) Remove all the MSXML files but msxml2.msi (which you should move to HF). They don't belong in here and you already have them in HF. If you want the most recent version of MSXML 6 (SP1), download msxml6_x86.msi from Microsoft's website, rename it msxml6.msi, place it in HF, and remove the already-existing KB927977 which would be obsolete.

    (3) ORK.CHM_1033, ork.xml, SETUP.INI, Visio, and _sfx_manifest_ won't work. Please watch what you are extracting.

    HFTOOLS folder

    (1) 7zdn.exe is not the same as 7za.exe. Download that.

    HFAAO folder

    (1) RVMAddonsWGA_1.5.723.1.7z may or may not work. If you want, you can use Microsoft's standalone installer for KB905474, available here.

It seems to me as if you always have a bunch of misplaced files. Before coming here for help, I would advise you to consult Tomcat76's XP update list and http://www.hfslip.org, which will always be available at your fingertips (or computer). I promise that it will save you a lot of time and trouble!

As always, good luck with everything! :D

  5. What exactly is the problem you are having?

I think you referred to KB905474. A newer version of this update was recently released. Try the standalone installer (placed in HF, released 02/21/2007).

I've also noticed that in order for Microsoft Update to work on first try (this is not for Windows Update) without reinstalling the components, you must import some entries. Here's a file for XP that you can place into HFSVCPACK.

    DataStore.exe

  6. The RyanVM addon pack probably won't work with HFSLIP because it's just a directory full of hotfix binaries. If you want to use HFSLIP, I would recommend slipstreaming what you need instead.

Read more about stuff at http://www.hfslip.org!

For Internet Explorer 7, the files you mentioned are simply hotfixes. You need IE7-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.exe which is the actual installer (see Microsoft's site). Place that in HF along with the hotfixes and you should be set.

Also, to slipstream WMP11, you must extract wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe using an advanced decompression program like 7-Zip or WinRAR and place the extracted files in a directory called "WMP11" inside HF.

  7. :hello: Hi, John!

    (1) IE7-KB928089-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe cannot be slipstreamed if you are not slipstreaming IE7.

    (2) XPSP2.EXT belongs in HFCLEANUP.

    (3) You have quite a bit of .NET installers in HFSVCPACK. What's dotnetfx.exe?

    • .NET 3.0 cannot be installed at T-13 (SVCPACK); it must be installed at first GUI logon (HFGUIRUNONCE).
    • Extra .NET 3.0 components will not install if you install .NET 1.1 in the same go.
    • I would advise you to take a look at Tomcat76's Silent .NET Maker for more information.

    (4) Unless WGAPluginInstall.exe happens to be a Type 1 or Type 2 hotfix, it is not supported.

    (5) MSICabExtract.exe and MSICabExtract.txt are obsolete.

    Hope this helps somewhat. :D

  8. Hi, Kiki Burgh! :hello:

    (1) msxml4-KB925672-enu.exe is obsolete - you already have the newer version.

    (2) I bet one or more of your HFSVCPACK_SW MSIs should really belong in HFGUIRUNONCE, especially ones that affect Windows Explorer/Internet Explorer 7 behavior.

    (3) Make sure all of your addons are up-to-date and don't conflict with IE7.

    (4) MSICabExtract.exe is obsolete.

That's all I can suggest for now, but I can't really say that I know how to deal with your IE7 problem.
