  1. Yep, clicking apply and then rebuild cache. Always did. Version 6.01 The icons I want to change are the ones right in front of the programs listed under start-programs. But I noticed that the icon only changed for programs in the subfolders, listed there.
  2. I tried changing the icons next to the list of programs in the start menu and still nothing. I rebuilt the cache, I clicked apply...but nada...anyone got any ideas what's going on here?
  3. Cool, good points, thanks But why is gaming an issue when it comes to defragging? I only play one game, and I do it before I go to bed every night. B) Also, what's a percentage number that you guys feel you should defrag? Thanks B) B)
  4. http://www.internetnews.com/security/article.php/3531491 http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1605578,00.asp Even though they are a bit outdated, you never know who these guys are working with. I'd trust Google over Yahoo any day of the week.
  5. Geocities is owned by Yahoo isn't it? I don't trust that company one bit, especially with their toolbar. They may claim to block pop-ups and what not, but removing their stuff on your computer is a real pain sometimes. I don't like that company one bit. Especially after watching The Apprentice with Trump. edit - http://www.internetnews.com/security/article.php/3531491
  6. Azerty III beautiful stuff. I'm still on 1.0.7 though because a lot of the extensions I like aren't fully updated to 1.5 yet.
  7. Geek buddy of mine told me on some dweeby computer talk show, they set up a rig and it only had WinXPSP2 on it. With the IP address on the screen. The deal was, if anyone could hack it in 48hours, the computer was theirs. Needless to say, nobody won the computer and apparenlty there were a high number of attacks made. I dunno, I used to use Zone Alarm, but for now, been using WinXPSP2, tested it on some sites and apparently all ports are blocked with the WinXPSP2 one, so for now, I use that.
  8. Apparently there is such a thing as defragging too much. Should only be done when your computer is fragmented bad. Read on majorgeeks (a thread) that too much defragging) will reduce your HD's life.
  9. You have it backwards. SpywareBlaster has regular updates, whereas, SpywareGuard's last update was Jan.22.04 But it's good because it prevents any exe or cab files being installed.
  10. I'm surprised NOBODY has mentioned CounterSpy. They use the same database as M$' AS, but they also do cookies I believe and add to their own database. Apparently it's one of theee best if not theee best. Same interface as M$-AS, but once that contract is up for them to get their definitions from GIANT, they'll be on their own. I was on their BETA team for awhile and it was pretty good. I sometimes wonder about M$' product, but I like the fact you can control start-up programs in there. For me, it's AdAware, Spybot, Spywareblaster, SpywareGuard and I'm set. With FireFox of course. Have to admit to SpySweeper being pretty **** good, as well as Ewido.(catching dll files and what not) Just don't be stupid when surfing.
  11. I can't seem to add people to it. Friend says she didn't see me add her, while she's online right now. Talking through emails and nothing. Any idea what's goin on? B) B) B)
  12. awww i want free lol nice analogy, with photoshop lol...that good huh
  13. Besides Icon packager (i don't like that it does everything in one shot), to me it's got a little too much access to i guess registry? or some kind of system folder...I'd like to customize each icon individually. I have tried cursor arts' activicons, which is nice, but the interface, is lame, but one thing I don't like about it, is when I open the program, the icons on my desktop DON'T align to grid and i have to keep resetting them to align to grid. thanks.
  14. So basically uncheck anything in the startup or run registry area and that click X and that will do it? Regarding sysinternals, autorun. thanks guys.
