    WTF?!

hi, your themes service is not being started. that's why windows will default to classic menus toolbars etc. in nlite, specify services, and enable themes for startup not sure about the other thing, maybe the install file isn't being read properly. You might have an addon to skip oobe entirely to stop the video guide, popups, etc.
  2. download microsoft bootviz and run a trace. you can see the program or driver that is hanging the machine on bootup
  3. Hi, I don't know if you want to take it on, but I've got some little progs that would be nice to auto-load. (Plextor plextools xl, asus update, virtualdub, stuff like that). If there's a way to program this stuff in a script program, I will figure it out, but since you're taking requests. A lot of these programs other people might use (HDD health, getright, Promoxitron (small free ad blocker)
  4. Thanks for taking the time to answer my q's. I did it exactly how Fencer said, even if it wasn't clear in my post. I did notice some error msg when I first tried it. The wiki wasn't up, now it is, so I'm reading those. I'm a little new at this. It is working just fine now. Are other people submitting driverpacks? say for scanners, printers, etc? It would be nice to keep going on this. With Dvd's you can include a lot of stuff. (I like the idea of having everything in one spot. Collectively, the amount of man hours computer users spend looking, installing for drivers-it's got to be quite high. If I were a major hardware company, I'd form a large consortium of companies, and build a universal driver disk, and force microsoft to include it. You'd probably have a lot less tech calls everywhere. ) Sorry, this is OT.
  5. Created new install, seems to work fine now. Still have the windows logo warning thing that pops up a few hundred times. Haven't figured that out. In order to do unattended install, I'm editing the Winnt.sif [Data] MsDosInitiated = "No" [unattended] OemPreinstall = "Yes" [GUIRunOnce] command9 = "%SystemDrive%\D\BTS_DPs_finish.cmd" can I just merge the file generated from the sp2 deployment tool?
  6. Hi, I'm attempting to retrace my steps and recreate the problem. Yes, I did start with a basic sp2 xp cd and I did used the RVM update. I chose GUIRunonce. Anyway, I'm going to reinstall again. Sorry for the noob ?'s, I can't access the wiki site.
  7. Hi, I integrated the available driverpacks using the latest base 5116 using method 2 no errors. I started with a generic sp2, plus the hotfixes using RVM integrator 105, everything fine so far. I integrated the available driverpacks using the latest base 5116 using method 2 no errors. Noticed that the mass storage drivers integrated during bootup. S/W installs with no errors, until I get to the windows gui, then I get a lot of unsigned warnings, a few 100, I'd say. Bypass them, and everything else installs. OK, I create a driverpack disk without the RVM integrator, just plain sp2 xp disk. install again. Here's the problem: when I go to add a new device (any type of device), I point it to the driver disk or files, and it just says can't find the drivers. I know they are correct, because I can add the same device using a different system. Essentially, I can't add any new drivers the normal way, or by searching the driver packs on CD or any setup program. I tried even installing a wireless by cdrom setup, same disk installs h/w fine on another machine, but it still says driver not found. Any thoughts? (I'm going to try method 1 next). (A standard PIII dell machine)
