@rikgale: i don't have cmdow.exe in my system32 folder. where do you get it? i'm working on a brand new laptop with xp pro sp2. why wouldn't it be on here? thanks! hmm. it's amazing what you can do with google. thanks for the work!

Hey guys. glad everyone is okay and not too wind blown or water logged. I've downloaded seapagans newest itunes 6.0.1.3 as a .7z file. I have zip genius to unpack it. However, i don't know how to run the install program. finally, do i need to uninstall my itunes 6.0.0.18 before i install 6.0.1.3? thanks!

thanks rikgale. turns out this is an old problem with itunes...sometimes it conflicts with sound card settings. i just changed a simple setting in itunes and all is well. question...what is UA (which, i belive, you love), and what is Ryan's Pack? thanks!

Update: I went to the uninstall area in the control panel. I had the option to repair, so i tried it. I received an error message: "setup couldn't find a file on the specified path or disk. Please check that the proper disk is inserted or specify a new path. Unable to locate file C:\DOCUME~1\JEFFCA~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\7zS38.tmp\itunes.msi" i was able to uninstall with no errors, but i haven't rebooted the computer yet. update to follow. Update: Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't help. This time, when i tried to install it, i got the same error message as above (cmdow) in prior post. then some windows opened, then nothing. so, i figured i'd reboot and try again. when i rebooted, there was an itunes icon in my quick launch and new folder/shortcuts in my start menu. however, the same problem with the songs. i removed a song, then added it back, but no difference. sorry, man.

Do we need to uninstall itunes 5 before installing 6, or will it uninstall it for us? thanks! Edit: I didn't notice rikgale's post before submitting this, so i went ahead and installed it over 5.0. During installation, the command window opened for C:\windows32\command.exe (or something like that). Here was the error message it gave: C:\DOCUME~1\JEFFCA~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\7zS38.tmp>cmdow @ /HID 'cmdow' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Then, it just installed with no action on my part (nice). However, my songs sound like they 're compressed or run fast or something, so something didn't work. Could be just me...isn't that the way it always is?? ha.

Shocking...another question: Since i'm now using Firefox, do i still need to have a million spyware and ad blockers running in the background on my machine? I currently have AVG antivirus and firewall, spybot search & destroy, cwsshredder, super adblocker, adaware se plus, microsoft antispyware, and spyware blaster. Just wondering. thanks! jeff

I don't think these were the questions, but here goes: When I install the latest of itunes 5.0.1, do i need/should i uninstall itunes 5 first? Same question for QuickTime. And, if i download an alternative to QT, should i uninstall QT? Can I and still have itunes run? thanks!

Hey Guys: I guess i'm now experiencing the difference b/t silent and unsilent (loud?) installation. I downloaded seapagan's slimmed down quicktime 7. I use zip genius to unpack .rar files. But how do i actually install this? thanks for helping yon noob out. jeffc4442

Pretty new to this stuff. what's the difference b/t what you and rikgale will be working on and the version that's currently posted at the beginning of this thread? Is that one not "silent"? Sorry, don't know what that means. Or, is the main difference 1.22 Mb? thanks.

seapagan, rikgale & others. I know that in the updated first post in this topic, seapagan says that he removed the transform for bonjour b/c it's no longer in itunes 5.01. I found a forum where someone says it is. I don't know if it's true or not, but thought you guys should know about it. Thanks for your work. after the first couple of pages, i didn't have a clue what you were talking about. I did understand "getting old" and "sleep." Thanks again.
