I accidentally posted in the XP section instead of the nlite section. I then tried deleting that post first before submitting a new post in the nlite section, but I couldn’t find a delete post option. So I edited the post in the xp section first by deleting all the info. It was not my intention or desire to double post as I honestly thought that previous post was now deleted after doing the above.

Thanks DigeratiPrime, i'm going to make a note of that service to keep. I don't know if anything else is required before making a new nlite disc.
-
That's the same one that I'm using for almost a year now without any problems.

I am a newbie here regarding file sharing and lan setups. So I would appreciate it if someone can tell me what I should keep in nlite (services and components) to be able to share files and folders and printer between two computers. I am using windows xp sp3 and I plan to use a switch and later on, a router to connect the two computers.

adding Ryans packs making the final product with nLite
SilverArrow replied to SilverArrow's topic in nLite
Hi Ponch and b-man, that’s why I used the latest version of Ryan’s integrator. Nlite sometimes work with Ryan’s update and other times don’t according to users on the forums, so I didn’t want to take any chances and decided to do it like I did. I made a slipstreamed windows xp sp3 disc first without using Ryan or Nlite to integrate and burned the disc. I call this my windows xp sp3. So now I use this with what ever new addons and updates with Ryans integrator and save the result as windows xp sp3 plus without removing anything. I then make a copy of windows xp sp3 plus on my hd. Now use nlite to make a customise version windows. If I don’t like the results with nlite, I can start with a fresh copy of windows xp sp3 plus disc. This method may look a little long but it can save a person a lot of time redoing this over and over. On a fast computer this may not matter much, but on a slower computer this redundancy can add a lot of unnecessary overhead time. -
adding Ryans packs making the final product with nLite

Thanks for your help and advice folks. Ok, I went ahead and added the update pack and the add-ons together in one go using Ryan’s integrator and then I saved it as windows xp sp3 plus. Then I used nlite to customize the final product and make an iso. Everything seems to be working, as my add-ons really didn’t require any particular order. -
First MS stipulates that you must have at least sp1 before adding sp3. If you have a disc with without any services packs then you can and should add sp2 to your sp0 disc (sp1 in not necessary as sp2 is cumulative.) Then add sp3 and make a bootable disc. Nlite will "integrate" it properly, but will not clean up the duplicate files. See here for more info http://www.msfn.org/board/Integrating-SP3-...ml&p=756404 See here for instructions on direct slipstreaming, making a bootable disc, and the results of what happens when you go from sp0 to slipstream sp3 directly without any prior service packs. http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/S...ice_Pack_3.html

You should slipstream sp2 first then sp3. Here is a quote from this site to help explan the process. Even Ms recommend you start with at least sp1 first. It seems that you can indeed do sp2 first then sp3 on a sp0 disc, however I would use the direct method in the link below instead of using nlite or ryan for this part and then make a bootable wxp_sp3 disc as your new source for any addons and nlite. “Windows XP (Gold): Slipstreaming SP3 seemed to work fine... untill it came to the point I had to activate Windows XP. It would not activate XP over the Internet & could also not update via the phone using the automated system. I didn't speak to a live person about it though. Without activating I couldn't use Windows Update without activating. Windows XP + SP2: Slipstreaming SP3 worked fine. I also was able to skip putting in the product key during installation (which was not an option with the XP gold 'slipstreamed' version). I had to activate to use Windows Update - which worked without a problem using the Internet activation - but I didn't get any errors on Windows Update, and updates where provided. “ See here http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/S...ice_Pack_3.html

adding Ryans packs making the final product with nLite
SilverArrow replied to SilverArrow's topic in nLite
Hi Ponch, I usually create a slipstreamed version using the this method described in the link as it has been extremely reliable and then I create a bootable disc, in this case winxp_sp3. This will then be use as my source for all future installs with nothing added except for sp3 and nothing taken out. This method saves a lot of time as sp3 has over 1000 updates. http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/S...ice_Pack_3.html This part is pretty well taken care of, it’s the rest of the add-ons that I’m not sure of how to go about. On Ryan’s site he strongly recommends using his Ryan integrator for RVMUpdatePackSP3_1.0.3.7z, for ie8 either nlite or ryans, for DotNetFx_All_In_1_Addon_v2.4.7z I’m not sure. Also the order is important sp3 already done, then RVMUpdatePackSP3_1.0.3.7z pack. I think ie8 next , then DotNetFx_All_In_1_Addon_v2.4.7z. I was hoping that other who have done this will be able to shed some light as I’m a newbie when it comes to ryans stuff. -
adding Ryans packs making the final product with nLite
SilverArrow replied to SilverArrow's topic in nLite
Ryan’s website stipulated that you should use the ryanvm integrator tool for his update pack RVMUpdatePackSP3_1.0.3.7z, and that only one update should be added at a time. But If I can use nlite to do it all in one go, then that’s great. I just wanted to know how you more experienced guys were doing it as I never used ryan packs before and was wondering on the order to slipstream the packs. -

Hello, I have windows xp2 with sp3 slipstreamed using this method. I copied my windows sp2 disc to a folder c:\xp3 and then extracted the sp3 service pack files into a separate folder, then I used the update.exe /integrate:c:\xp3 method and then I made a bootable cd. I did this to create a windows xp with sp3 disc to use as a furture starting base. Then I hope to use this sp3 base for all furture updates. Now I would like to add these and use nlite to remove stuff, add my tweaks and make the Iso file, but I’m not sure of the exact procedure. Should I do the following: - 1. Use Ryan integrator 1.6.7z and put RVMUpdatePackSP3_1.0.3.7z on the (Choose An Update Pack) line. 2. Click integrate, also should I tick the optimize system files box? 3. Use Ryan integrator 1.6.7z and put Stimpy IE8-ADDON-ENU-V1.0.2.7Z on the (Choose An Update Pack) line or (Choose Addon Pack(s)) line? This addon is supposed to integrated. 4. Click integrate, also should I tick the optimize system files box? 5. Use Ryan integrator 1.6.7z and put DotNetFx_All_In_1_Addon_v2.4.7z on the (Choose An Update Pack) line or (Choose Addon Pack(s)) line? 6. Use Nlite 1.4.9.1 to remove stuff, add my tweaks and make the Iso file. Note: I think that I’m supposed to add the packs one at a time especially with this one RVMUpdatePackSP3_1.0.3.7z instead of all in one go. Thanks, as this will be my first time in using Ryans addon packs with nlite.

thank you very much g-force.

Integration of Intel's SATA AHCI and RAID drivers
SilverArrow replied to Fernando 1's topic in nLite
@ Fernando: No, I have a clean source, but I was wondering if i can use your method to intergrate the drivers into a new source disc, and then continue using nlite to make a new customized nlite version of around 240mb, or will removing stuff with nlite mess up the intergration process? So use a clean source disc windows xp, intergrate sp2, the intel drivers as in you instructions and make my customized nlite version normally which will be around 240mb for the iso all in one session, and that I will then be able install this nlited windows version with sp2 and the intel drivers integrated. Is this correct? -
- The agp is for older video cards that used the agp bus, pci and above doesn't need this. - ali1535, and ali ide controller is for older motherboards that used the Ali chipsets, not needed it using intel, nvidia chipsets. - floppy support, not needed if no floppy present. -cmd pci ide controller, this may be needed for any ide devices like hd or older dvd writers.

Integration of Intel's SATA AHCI and RAID drivers
SilverArrow replied to Fernando 1's topic in nLite
I have a few questions regarding intergrating the Intel sata dirvers. I would like to create an nlite version but with the sata drivers integrated. In the link below it states that you must use a clean source. Is it possible to create an nlite version with the intel sata drivers intergrated, and if so how? http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=107504 2. Processing with nLite: Copy the content of the clean source CD (XP, XP x64, W2k3 or W2k3 x64) onto your hdd. Run nLite and point to the directory where you have copied the OS source. -
I thought XP SP3 asks for CD key AFTER you finish install?
SilverArrow replied to Cytomax's topic in nLite
The reason why your slipstreamed SP3 XP Pro is asking for the CD key during installation and not after you finish installing XP is because you slipstreamed SP3 onto a gold version of XP Pro. If you were to slipstreamed SP3 onto a sp1 or sp2 xp pro, then xp will give you 30 days before asking for the CD key. I read this on the website below Here is a quote and a link to the article http://www.theeldergeek.com/slipstreamed_xpsp3_cd.htm "That is not to say you can't use a Gold Edition CD as the basis for a slipstreamed CD. That is certainly possible, and it does install without problems as far as I can tell, but you will have to enter the product key during the installation procedure rather than have the option to defer entering it until after installation is complete". -
Thanks Nighted. I went ahead and downloaded XPadder v.5 and it works even better and easier than the Logitech game profiler. I think I will stick with XPadder.

Thank you very much nuhi for all of the work and time that you put into making nlite. I was using windows 98 up until 2004. That was the year that I discovered nlite v .98. I had a slow computer and I didn’t want to load the full version of windows xp. You and nlite helped me make the switch-over to windows xp. I’m a happy nlite user and I love those tweaks which saves me a lot of time.

Thanks Nighted, but can you tell me if your game profiler still works in games that doesn't support gamepads. That is where the gamepad is emulating keyboard commands? ok, finally I added back character map and this worked for my Logitech game profiler software. So Problem solved after many days of testing.
-
I went over everyhting 3 times, but I still can't figure what I removed that was needed for my game controller to work with games. Games with built-in support for gamepads work perfectly, it's just getting the profiler to work. I even tried Pinnacle, xadder and joy2key but all didn't work. Nlite removed something that was needed, but I don't know what. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I put back the following and but the gamepad issue problem is still unsolved, also I can't seem to get Human interface device access service to start. The gamepad works with any windows game that has builtin support for a gamepad, but it doesn't work any more for games that needs to go through the game profiler. - - Images and Backgrounds - Simple TCP/IP Services - universal plug and play host
-
yes, it's the wireless controller. Thanks Nighted for the links.

I have just finished making an nlite copy of windows xp. Everything seemed to work ok except for my logitech rumble 2 game pad controller. I installed the logitech driver and everything works ok, then when I try to use it with a game. It seems that the commands are not being passed to the game. For example most games have keyboard keys for move ment like W=forward, s=backward, a= left and d=right. I set up the game profiler to mimic these keyboard keys, but the games are not seeing the keys when I press the command on the controller. If I press the key directly on the keyboard, it works. When the game profiler is running I see the keys pressed on the controller, the commands are not being passed to the game. The only stuff that looks like might be needed are: Images and Backgrounds,TCP/IP Services.
