Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought OEM copies of Windows XP cannot be legally transferred to another computer. They must be installed on the computer it came with... I think you are out of luck.

I pulled the classic mistake of not *backing up* before I went to reinstall and reformat. I backed up everything on a seperate partition. I deleted my root partition on a dynamic disk, which not only made all my OSs unbootable (expected) it deleted my partition table and I'm left with an unpartitioned hard drive. Is there any method that could be used to recover data from FAT32 partitions on that hard drive?

Does it matter that the BFG 5500 OC (which I'd be looking at) isn't on that HCL?

Hello I'm just curious as to what is the minimum required video card for MCE 2005. Would Geforce FX 5500OC be compatible?

I was certain I did not overwrite my original save files, as I realized in option 3 that backing up would overwrite my original files. And I am 110% certain I didn't do option 3 twice, so therefore even if my original backups had been overwritten, I'd still have the 98SE2ME without option 3 installed right? So I think something is messed up here, but thanks for bringing that point up.

Hey MDGx, I'm back. That computer I put 98SE2ME on was having some problems, I have a strong feeling its with the ME explorer and the rest of option 3. However, I cannot restore my old files. I've tried to remove option 3 both ways and nothing happened. Then I booted into dos, ran the restore to restore all of my old 98SE files it said it moved 98SEOLD back into C:\Windows and moved my 98SE2ME to 98SENEW. When I boot back up, I still have everything (option 3 included) installed. How can I fix this?

Thanks for the help MGDx, but I get an empty black screen while it shuts down. I like the included screens ahead of the originals but I'm talking zero graphics while shutting down, which is no big deal but a minor annoyance. I even tried replacing them with XP screens and I still get the 98SE2ME startup and no shutdown...

Hello All I just installed everything (option 3 included) and so far everything seems to be working well. I thank MGDx for his great work. I do have a question though... With all this tweaking on 98SE, how much 98SE are we and how close to ME are we? Would it be easier to tweak ME to get the 98SE2ME? I know ME hides real mode DOS etc but you can tweak to unhide it... Just curious guys... And can I get a patch that puts Windows 98 Second Edition on the ME Start Menu? I don't like something popping up saying I have ME If not, I can live with it. Edit: I also seem to have lost my shutdown screen. Any suggestions? I forget the name of the shutdown logo.

Thanks for the help, not sure if I did those things or not for it has been a couple days... As mentioned networking works just not internet. I will double check those things and report back. I'm also pretty sure I know why it doesn't work with 98 (it did work til I ran network setup) I just have to reconfigure simple network settings... It does work on the 98 machine so it must also be SE... again not my machines and I barely worked on them so I don't know them well. And I'm assuming when you say DHCP you mean DNS....

Yes, I ran network setup on all 3, and setup ICS from the first computer.

Thanks again for the help but I have just installed Win 98 so I have barely anything on there.... 5.47 GB left out of 6 on my main hard drive. All programs are closed, nothing in the taskbar..... My other hard drive also nearly has 2 GB left. Thanks for the support guys... Edit: I just really don't know what my problem could be... I meet all minimum requirements. Any more ideas guys? 2nd Edit: Problem fixed, turned off a few things under startup. Thanks for the help guys.

Some family friends of ours bought some WiFi cards for their computers (3). They have dial-up internet so sharing it over a router like most of us do is out of the question (and no they cannot get high speed). The store they bought it from set up an Ad-Hoc Network(P2P) between the 3 wireless cards. They have the network and file sharing working between two XPSp2 computers, but the internet sharing does not work. Apparently it worked for one day and just stopped. I checked and the store who set it up did not enable ICS. I did and still no luck. I forget how I manually configured the IP addresses with the gateway etc, could someone tell me how to do it? The third computer is Win98, and is not configured for the network, even though it appears to me it has the same workgroup and everything. (I ran the XP Network Setup on it and it didn't work.) Can someone tell me how to configure this computer to run on the Network? To summarize: dial up internet comes in through a modem on XP Home Sp2 computer, trying to share it out through a WiFi card to two other computers, another XPSp2 (I think this one is a Pro and it is on the network) and a 98 computer who needs to be configured on the Network Thanks

If it helps, the error message comes up while extracting SP2.CAB. The first time I tried I downloaded it on another computer and shared it over the network. This time I downloaded the file right on the 98 computer. Thanks again, and I'm sorry for not reading that post more carefully about Revolutions and SE2ME. I think I understand things now.

Hello all I am new here this project looks quite neat. I am fixing up and toying with an old PI or PII 150MHz with only 48 MB RAM. I get this error when trying to install the service pack: Extracting file failed. It is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping files) or a corrupted Cabinet file. My hard drive 6 GB capacity so I'm guessing it is something to do with my small ram and small virtual memory capacity but I wasn't sure. Anything I can do? By the way, is it possible to have the revolutions pack and the 98SE 2 ME patch on simaltaneously? Thanks in advance hammer
