Provided that's the only thing that goes wrong... Extract SVCPACK.INF onto your desktop. Edit the MP10Setup.exe line. Copy this text into Notepad, save it as something.cmd on your desktop and run it: MAKECAB /D CompressionType=LZX /D CompressionMemory=21 SVCPACK.INF Copy SVCPACK.IN_ into SOURCESS\I386 (overwriting the older one).

I can confirm this. Running HFSLIP for WinXP SP2 on Windows 2000. Edit: The text right above the question to overwrite MP10Setup.exe says this, but I can't find any instance of "copiedg" in HFSLIP: 3 File(s) copiedg current folder] Edit #2: Ah, wait. Isn't that the last part of [Flushing current folder]?

<TommyP only> OK. These files are needed for WUA20 on 2K3 Gold: wuapi.dll wuauclt1.exe wuaucpl.cpl wuaueng1.dll wucltui.dll wups.dll wups2.dll (HFSLIPWU.INF, TXTSETUP.SIF and DOSNET.INF) </TommyP only>

<TommyP only> W2K3 Gold... The following updates don't integrate or register properly: WindowsServer2003-KB905915-x86-ENU.exe WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86.exe There are a few other issues reported by HFNETCHK but I think they are related to my forgetting to include Windows Script 5.6. A DX9 script section for 2K3 Gold is coming up... </TommyP only>

I noticed a few other problems too but I'll check again with the new release first.
-
Just leave the MP10Setup.exe name alone. I don't remember if it's being renamed to 8:3 format by HFSLIP or not. The warning was probably just to scare us off, or a remnant from the days when an HFSLIPped install could be initiated from a floppy. This is new to me. I'll check it out.BTW... You got a couple of DX9 cab files in HFCABS (four, I believe) which are ignored by HFSLIP. Please see my list of files.

Looks like Opera "temporarily" dropped support for "application/javascript". They supported it for sure in the late 7.x series, but I never really used it until now. Because of that past experience, I just assumed it would still work and it does in Opera 9.0p1 (my default browser since it was released). I checked it on another computer here which is still on Opera 8.50 and you're right -- the pages don't work.Anyway, it's fixed. It's an ugly workaround but it's the only way. Earlier versions of Mozilla should be supported now too unless they don't know how to handle "display: table-row".

You're right. The existence of the other IE6.0SP1/OE6.0SP1 updates for XPSP1 probably got me confused. Update removed. Thanks. Back to 2K3... Is "2K3 Gold" supposed to be supported? I just tested it and I'm having an issue with "w03a2409.dll". TXTSETUP.SIF and DOSNET.INF refer to that file but it doesn't exist in the I386 folder which makes Windows setup complain. 2K3 SP1 slips fine (w03a2409.dll is present) so the latest edit to HFSLIP is OK. That file is part of WindowsServer2003-KB890046-x86-enu.exe which is intended for both 2K3 Gold and 2K3 SP1.

It doesn't look like it's playlist related. I force-fed them into the right folders (after setup created the random subfolder names) but still nothing. A couple of MP10-related files which are present on the CD are not being copied over, though. It could be one of them. Advise for now: use HFSVPK_SW... or ignore the "no-background-music-with-Post-Install-Wizard" problem...
-
Both KB833987 and 833989 are present in my list for WinXP SP1. IE6.0sp1-KB833989-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB833987-x86-ENU.EXE
-
It is most likely caused by the fact that the playlists are excluded when you let HFSLIP *slipstream* WMP10. If that's the case, you can get the background music back by placing MP10Setup.exe in the HFSVPK_SW folder instead. I wanted to test this myself but didn't get around to it yet.

Thanks. I've updated the 2K3 hotfix page.
-
Sounds highly unlikely. See in Add/Remove Programs, then (check "Show updates").
-
This thread is for 2K3 but I'll answer that. Do you see anything useful in C:\WINDOWS\WindowsUpdate.log?
-
OK... The WM 9/10 codecs, WUv4 and OU can be included. The list is up to date now.
-
Note in between: don't include KB890046 for now, or edit TXTSETUP.SIF prior to burning the CD: Search for "w03a2409.dll" and remove "ECHO " from the beginning of that line. Then make your CD.
-
I just checked out the WM 9/10 codecs stuff. It looks like both packages that I link to on the XP page contain newer binaries than the ones on 2K3. I'm gonna do a full HFSLIP now, with 9/10 codecs, WUv4 and OU...

Well... You could check for the existence of "msxml4.dl_" in the I386 folder of your 2003 CD. If it's not there, it's not there... (some deduction power... I'm getting better every day... )
-
That's odd... I checked several editions; the originals/SP0s/RTMs/Golds/virgins don't have it, and the SP1 installer doesn't have it either. Are you sure you didn't install it later on, or that it didn't come with one of the programs you have installed?
-
It's a "clean" one compared to the others... Thanks. You mean "RTFM" or just "RTM"? That's a HUGE difference... The system32 folder only has msxml, msxml2 and msxml3.

Please report any mistakes you encounter. I've been at it for a couple of days now and noticed a problem once in a while. Things *should* be fine now but nothing is perfect. Also, the pages are mirrored on another server since yesterday. I noticed some loading problems at times on the "main" server but it could be just my imagination as well. You can find the links to the pages on the main server in my signature. The "alternate links" are these: Win2K WinXP These links also exist at the bottom of my hotfix pages on this forum.

Ah, that explains.Since there are "issues" with IE (I have to do things wrongly for it), I wanted an easy way to differentiate it from the "modern" browsers. After a bit of testing, I decided to use the TYPE attribute on the SCRIPT tag for that. For MSIE, I use "text/javascript" and for modern browsers I use "application/javascript". Firefox 1.0.7 apparantly didn't support the latter yet. For those interested... It concerns the CSS style for the table rows that I want to display again. According to the standards, it should be done like this: display="table-row". But IE doesn't support that display property; it needs display="block" which is wrong in this context. Oh, so you want my pages to replace FDV's site completely. Why don't you just say so? I'll see what I can do. I know... I'll do it. I just need some more time.

It's possible, but there's a few limitations...1) If you want this integrated into the HFSLIP program, one more question needs to be asked in the beginning so that people who DON'T want to populate the Add/Remove Programs list are still catered to. 2) If you want descriptive titles, it will be dependant on updates whenever a new hotfix is released, and these need to be found out for every language these hotfixes exist in. 3) If you want this done by me (hehe)... I can do this by checking which files are in the various folders and then output a generic title like "HFSLIP Total Slipstream - KB912919" or "HFSLIP Total Slipstream - Internet Explorer 6" if corresponding installation files exist, but, as you can guess, this also depends on updates whenever a new hotfix is released. The reason of this limitation is because I don't know how to work with the existing file names through a script (to make the script "automated", the hotfix file names need to be outputted in a text file, then the text file needs to be edited so only the KB number remains for each hotfix -- and then I'm not even mentioning removing the language indicator). I wonder if he said the same things when you gave him Win2K with SP4 back in June 2003...

Whoops... Fixed now.
