  1. thats odd. thats the file that did it for me. i heard someone else having the same problem and we weren't able to pinpoint what was going on. try reinstalling sp2 and then go through the files one by one, adding them and then restarting. you might want to use vmware to do this so you dont screw up your main system.
  2. absolutely, 100% positive. i tested it with two different computers with fresh installs.
  3. yeah, i had tried that, but then my computer locked up. not sure if it was related, but id rather just disconnect it from my network connections. is there anything UI related with that particular DLL? if not then you might not even need to include it, or perhaps a warning if someone does enable it. personally, i didnt notice any appearance difference with it enabled or disabled.
  4. ok, so i went through the DLLs one by one and the one that triggered the problem, is netcfgx.dll. i did verify that removing the modifications to that dll fixes the problem. we are on the same version of windows.
  5. Alright, I'll mess around with it tonight when I get home. Sucks that the whole thing works really great except for this trivial little thing. I'll post my findings here tonight. Only thing that sucks is that I need to do it with VMWare since I don't wanna keep rebooting my main machine and removing system files. Oh well. edit... curious about this... what version of windows are you running for those of you that don't have this problem? I'm on XP Pro SP2 with all of the newest updates.
  6. So I made an unattended windows install cd with nlite and put xpize on it. After first boot I went to disable a network adapter and it is telling me that "it is not possible to disable the connection at this time". I reinstalled xp sp2 and it fixed the problem, then i reinstalled xpize and the same problem is back! can someone else verify that they have this problem? this seems like a pretty big bug if xpize is corrupting something on the system such that you cant disable your network adapters. edit... just tried this on my laptop and i can confirm that it has the same problem. edit... just did some more testing. i tried the xpize updater and that did not work, then i tried only installing selective stuff. i left out a number of net related items as well as the crypto dll in hopes that it would solve the problem, and it did! but now ftp logins and stuff like that arent xpized... anyone know specifically which file might cause this? im leaning towards the crptography services dll since it can produce that error, or so ive read.
  7. just got done using this to add a few things to my runonceex and it deleted entries in my custom runonceex that inserted registry settings for registration for certain files. can you maybe add an option to install registry patches for each application that gets installed?
  8. i don't know about the settings cause i havent applied everything yet, but i know the email file is stored under c:\documents and settings\%username%\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook i think the settings might be in the registry though, but im not sure. hope this helps you a bit.
  9. god i hope so... i wonder what we would use as an editor and what format they would be...
  10. hey guys, im new to the forums cause im all about these unattended cds now, but i thought id say whats up to everyone. im a member of lots of other forums such as: neowin, dsmtuners, evotuners and i was a moderator on inetnews.com before they went down. just wanna say whats up to everyone... thanks.
  11. thanks for the answer. trust me, the last thing I want to do is clutter up a forum being a member of many and having run one myself a few years back... i did search, but I couldnt find any definitive answer. i really appriciate your response. thanks.
  12. cmon, someone's gotta know this. it's gotta be such a simple question... i just cant find the answer anywhere...
  13. I've searched but I couldnt find a definitive answer... If I'm using nlite and I slipstream my SATA controller drivers onto the disc, when I boot from the install cd, will setup detect my sata drive without having to do the f6 method? thanks.
