Ever since I got on the beta version of windows 11, it been automatically grouping files in certain folders, and folders within that folder. For example, my Downloads folder. I keep setting the Grouping to None, but it still continues to group the files and folders after restarting explorer, or the pc. I'm used to sorting files by name, and then date, so this is making it complicated to find certain files that i'm looking for. It's very annoying. Does anyone know of a way to disable this? or fix it? I've never had this problem in Windows before. I'm currently on Windows 11 Pro 22H2 22622.290 thanks

Wow, i knew i joined a tech forum back in my vista beta days. Some how came to this site today from a link on a tutorial that is helping my slipstream all the latest windows 7 updates with my iso, so i wont have a problem installing windows on my new SSD thats arriving tomorrow. I logged in, and it said "Last Visit: 18 October 2006 - 07:17 PM" I plan on being more active on here. The other tech forums im an active member on seem to be going down hill. See how this one goes.

i think it must be a bug that makes the desktop icons so huge. I reporteed it even if you go into the display options and check and uncheck "show large icons" it's still there. i think this OS is designed for higher resolutions also.

Which burner software do you use? I think the ISO's are the same. Try using nero and going to the file menu and click "BURN ISO" worked for me.

well here is this http://www.mjone.com/screenie.jpg i got shadows and translucent start menu now. haha I got that with simple program i had for XP called YZshadow. if your like me and Do not have agood graphics card to have the 3d effects, You might get that a try. Kinda sucks not to have shadows under windows. Even xp had shadows i beleive. it hardly uses any recources http://www.osx-e.com/downloads/utilities/yzshadow.html Does anyone know of a program to get the window borders and things translucent? hehe its funny how im on vista and i have to use programs that simulate vista's look

No 3d effects here not even good shadows lol people were asking how much space it takes up on the harddrive. On mine with beta 1, The windows directory takes up 3.64GB of space. 22,226 files.

What do you think about the new theme with Vista? I actually like the taskbar, But that is it. Its too bright for my eyes and some of the things you cannot see because they are to bright. Also the backgrounds in programs is solid white. Such as in photoshop cs 2. I barely see the scroll bars on the side of the windows ------------------------------> I have to search for them each time i want to scroll the page because my mouse wheel doesn't seem to work correctly on some windows. I know this is still beta and alot will be improved. Im gonna see soon if the old themes from my windows 98 will work on here they should since they are just the classic look with color.

Mcafee wouldn't install. Even with the compatibility changed. Does norton work fine on it? Im a bit scared having ZERO virus protection. I know the way Vista and XP run are very different but if it works good, i might try Norton again. It used to lagg my computers really bad though.. so far i have these installed perfect: Stardock object dock, winamp pro, Adobe photoshop cs 2, Edonkey 2005 pro. MSN messenger 7. Yahoo messenger 7 beta, Also the quicktime pro. I have more Installed. Just cant think of all them right now. Soon i'll Try Google's Picasa 2.

yeah i meant dvd. Where do you go to mess with those settings? I cant find them anywhere. Not in the display, control panel. NO WHERE.

im running it with 2.6ghz pentium 4. 384DDR ram. Works smooth and perfect. Super fast unlike XP.

firefox installed fine for me. Which is funny because IE7 acts almost the same as firefox (even the error i got with it) which is weird.. either way its funyn because i still choose to use firefox. HA

in the screenshots of vista beta 1, the windows were transparent. I read tht you might have to install that stuff yourself and its on the cd in support/winfx and i did all that and i still dont see how anything can become transparent or anything. Also it seems that all the icons are stuck on "large mode" i've tried unchecking that and it still has them as huge icons.
