  1. Unfortunately, this guy is trying to access RDP via the activex and couldn't get it to run. I'm using the RD Client. I'm still having this issue. My issues are not as bad as the previous poster, as this is my only issue. Perhaps you have an improperly slipstreamed image? Mine came directly from MSDN so I don't think thats the case with me. Any other ideas?
  2. Remote desktop works best for me for a myriad of reasons, one of which is that every XP+ computer I use already has the client. I appreciate the suggestion but that's really not a solution. I have set the TCIP IP patch to 100 in every test case, including the one where RDesktop worked without incident, so it's not that. Also, I didn't disable administrative shares, I'm not sure where you got that....
  3. Longtime user of nLite, but just started trying to use it on a SP3 install. I've tried several different iterations of the disc, but I can only install Windows so many times. After removing the usual stuff, stuff I've removed many times before, Remote Desktop no longer works. The client is on there, I can remote out, but not in. I can go to another computer and use the client and put in the ip, and nothing happens, doesn't prompt for a username or anything. After I click connect, the client just kind of resets itself. To make sure it was nLite, I burned the original XP Pro VLK SP3 iso and installed that, worked fine. I also tried nLite with just a few things removed, and it worked. I tried a few different combos to see if I could isolate it with no luck. Again, it takes too much to keep reinstalling and reinstalling. I'm hoping someone here can help me isolate the problem. And before you ask, yes I did check the box to keep remote desktop capability. Heres the last session ini: PS, I know I have a handful of services set to be disabled after installed, as you can see below. That is an obvious candidate for the problem, but its not. I got the same error on installations where I didn't set any services to disabled on install like here. This was like my 7th try so I figured what the hell. 4. My laptop has an Atheros ar5001x WLAN in it, which I accidentally had disabled during my XP installation. I used method 1, cabbed drivers, and all of my drivers fit on my cd becuase I trimmed down XP. Once I re-enabled my WLAN, it found the drivers on my hard drive (i elected to keep the drivers), and if recognized the device, but I get this error -> A service installation section in this INF is invalid. Any ideas? Edit: Additional info: The laptop is a Saget 5690. The wlan is branded Gigabyte, as is the drivers that you can download from their website as was the labeled cd I got with the laptop. Here is the driver: http://www.sagernotebook.com/ftp/misc/gn-wiag.exe Thanks! Update: I reinstalled Windows from my disk thinking that was the problem (becuase the device was disabled the first time). It looks like the device is being disabled by either the driverpacks or the installer becuase it is not recognized, becuase it was disabled again this time around.
  5. EDIT: I went through it about 10 times, each time identical to the last, and it just started working. I dont know why. Hi there, I use remote desktop extensively and have been using the termserv.dll from SP2 build 2055 for concurrent sessions. It's very convienent when I am at work and my girlfriend is on my computer. Anyways I have this on all of my computers and I reinstall the hack everytime I format. I just formatted my XP Pro desktop and did all the updates/drivers etc and I'm having major trouble getting the hack to work. This is what I did. Renamed the 2055 dll to termserv2.dll and put it in /system32 Rebooted to safe mode with command prompt, deleted termserv.dll and renamed termserv2.dll to termserv.dll. Then I changed directories to dllcache and deleted the one from there. I then loaded explorer in safe mode and merged the registry file I have that enables concurrent sessions in CurrentControlSet. Just like every other time. Lastly I changed group policy to allow 2 connections. I reooted and Terminal Services won't start. The event viewer says something along the lines of. The Terminal Services service terminated with the following error: Error 126: the specified module could not be found. I have double checked everything, and either there is just something unique/flakey about this particular installation of Windows that is acting up, or Microsoft has done something to fix this. Since I haven't read about any other problems, I am assuming this is just a glitch unique to me. Does anyone have any recommendations on something to try?
