  1. Barebone kits are generally the main essentials: the motherboard, the case and the power supply. They also generally contain on-board intergrated video. In other words, you need to buy the processor, hard drive, cd/dvd drive and a decent graphics card. Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot, you also need to buy the RAM. Edit2: Most places I visit offer to build, what they call, barebone PC's. You tell them exactally what you want, including specific parts, they assemble them and then sell them to you. That's only if you don't know how to put it together yourself. It isn't a true barebone PC but that's what they like to call them. Hope all that helps.
  2. Really? I only found out about it yesterday... why wasn't I told? Heh. Ahwell, I like the fact that it is XP compatible and it runs great on my machine (better than the original anyway).
  3. Remember the days when you used to run over top down people with your top down cars? If, like me, you've lost the original CD or just want to see how Rockstar Games got started, you can now download the original GTA from there website FOR FREE! Goto http://www.rockstargames.com/classics/gta.htm for more information.
  4. Heya guys. I'm wondering if there is a program or a way to import your MSN Messenger v6.2 contacts into Microsoft Outlook 2003? The standard import/export feature in both MSN Messenger and Outlook doesn't help. Any ideas, anyone?
  5. @shadowfla: Calm down dude. I've used Autopatcher before for my unattended CD and between the time of setting up Windows and this program installing the hotfixes, I was infdected by that Slammer worm (the one that exploits the hole automatically). After Autopatcher was finished, I ended up having to reinstall because the removal tool didn't work properly. That's why I use the SVCPACK.INF method (or integrate them). The reason most people here are "hatin on it" is because isn't what this website is about. This website trys to only use Microsoft's official methods or something along those lines (not using external programs unless neccesary). You can use Autopatcher if you want, along with anyone else, but don't go "dissin" everyone here because they don't like it.
  6. That's exactally what I was thinking... The only problem I've found is that if your on a public computer, when you log in, it'll remember you by default so the user would have to make sure they click the "Don't Remember Me" checkbox.
  7. Those hotfixes are for Internet Explorer and one is the cumulative update (KB832894) and therefore has to be installed before the single update (KB831167). As for MDAC, it doesn't matter because MDAC is a standalone update (not requiring any other updates). Ofcourse, you can install that one in the right place.
  8. grrrr....... smartarse.
  9. @fernandodb: Add the following to SVCPACK.INF (WITH quotes): "Q832483.exe /C:""dahotfix.exe /q /n"" /q:a" And make sure Q832483.exe is in the SVCPACK directory.
  10. heh. It's kool. I don't get tense on web forums anymore...
  11. In my quest to build a Website Management System made for users and not developers, I'm after some feedback on some features. This feature determines if the website should automatically keep you logged or if you should be asked if you want to automatically log in. If you want to check a box saying "Always Remember Me" then vote "Remember Me". If you would prefer the website to automatically remember you unless you tell it to, vote "Don't Remember Me". I hope this made sense. Please leave feedback if you have any comments.
  12. Well, I thought it did... at least WindowsX's version does... sheesh.
  13. This is purely coincidence but has anyone noticed that the new Jade theme in Longhorn looks a lot like a theme used on a certain website (for the "not so smart" among you, I mean MSFN )? I just downloaded WindowsX's Jade theme and it fits in SO WELL with this website. This is just a garbage post really but wondering if anyone else has noticed this.
  14. No probs. Always glad to help out.
  15. Follow these steps: Add the following registry entry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Winlogon]"SFCSetting"=dword:ffffff9fRename C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfc_os.dll to C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfc_os.bak (cancel the file protection popup) Copy the hacked sfc_os.dll file into the system32 directory (again, cancel the file protection popup). Reboot. Once you have rebooted, you will no longer have any problems (you can also delete C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfc_os.bak if you want).
  16. In the unattended forum, I cracked the SP2 sfc_os.dll file... just do a search and you'll find it.
  17. I haven't seen this fix in here but if your having problems accessing websites via URLS like http://username:password@site.com, it's due to an update added in February. The fix for this is the following registry keys: ; Enable username:password@site.com in Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_HTTP_USERNAME_PASSWORD_DISABLE] "iexplore.exe"=dword:00000000 "explorer.exe"=dword:00000000 This annoyed me for so long... Invalid Syntax Error, that I had to disable it. See KB article: KB832894
  18. I'm an avid user of Linux as well and I'm not trying to offend you but there are a few problems with your statements: Increase in internet speed? How? The only factor in internet speed is the programs your using to access it. I've done tests with Windows vs. Linux computers and found consistent results to prove that raw internet speed is not dependant on OS. What are you refering to here? Dialog boxes? Windows XP, Mac OS and Linux all have the same sort of customization programs for altering appearances. Have you tried playing UT2k4 or Trainz on a Wine emulator? I take it by the comment above you haven't. Anything that requires DirectX is not likely to work properly. Where did you hear that? There are viruses and worms that target Linux. The reason there aren't many is because Linux is a rather niche market of home PC users. Although a lot of internet servers use Linux, most viruses target home PC users. You mean you can run the latest KDE or Gnome on 16MB RAM?? I doubt it but even if you could, I doubt you could run many programs on it. And RAM is so cheap nowadays that problems with not enough RAM should be pretty much non-existance. Again, I have to say I'm not lashing out at you or anyone else. I'm just correcting some mistakes in your post. But, yes, try Linux if you feel up to it. It is a great operating system.
  19. Although not knowing much about diskpart, I have used it with Bart's Windows PE and have found it to work great. It also supports batch files that you can load and it will do all the work for you. Have a look at it as I think it might do what you want. Sorry, I can't be of anymore help.
  20. Using the registry idea, it sets the timezone properly... here is my timezone.reg file that I import using cmdlines.txt: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation]"Bias"=dword:fffffda8"StandardName"="E. Australia Standard Time""StandardBias"=dword:00000000"StandardStart"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00"DaylightName"="E. Australia Standard Time""DaylightBias"=dword:00000000"DaylightStart"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00"ActiveTimeBias"=dword:fffffda8I guess this will have to do for now.
  21. As Aaron pointed out at the start, using FullUnattended will apply the TimeZone information whereas DefaultHide or anything other than FullUnattended for that matter, won't. That's where the problem comes in.. I can't use FullUnattended for several reasons.
  22. Hmm... interesting... never thought of that... BTW the registry key for the TimeZone Information isn't user specific... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformationI'm trying it now... Will update.
  23. @[bM]Crusher: Unfortunately that didn't work. Here is my current winnt.sif file (note: it still doesn't prompt for the TimeZone): ; MSA WINNT.SIF Setup File.[Data]AutoPartition="0"MsDosInitiated="0"UnattendedInstall="Yes" [unattended]UnattendMode=DefaultHideOemSkipEula=YesOemPreinstall=YesTargetPath=\WINDOWSRepartition=NoUnattendSwitch="yes"WaitForReboot="No"OemPnPDriversPath="MSA\Drivers\004\nvidia"DriverSigningPolicy=IgnoreNoWaitAfterTextMode=1NoWaitAfterGuiMode=1Hibernation=0DisableDynamicUpdates=Yes [GuiUnattended]OemSkipWelcome=1 [RegionalSettings]LanguageGroup=1Language=00000c09 [Display]BitsPerPel=32Vrefresh=60Xresolution=1280Yresolution=1024 [userData]ProductKey=xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxxOrgName="Mantra Software Australia" [identification]JoinWorkgroup=MANTRASOFTWARE [shell]CustomDefaultThemeFile="%windir%\Resources\Themes\Slate XP.theme"
  24. But I want it to prompt me for regional information... I just want it to prompt me for the Time Zone as well (like it should)... Edit: Just to clarify... It's prompting me for Regional Information (I want it to) but not for Time Zone information. All I need to get my problem fixed is have it prompt me for Time Zone information.
