  1. I spent hours on this, also with MS support, but no joy. Finally I found the procedure described below which fixed the problem. Since I am not a developer please do not shoot me if it doesn't work for you or even if it caused more problems. I would be interesting to see if it works for you also Here goes: First: 1. Bring up an elevated (Administrator) command prompt 2. Execute the following commands sequentially: a. fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\ b. cd /d %windir%\system32\config\txr c. attrib -r -s -h * d. del * Second: Start an elevated (Administrator) cmd.exe Type: Cd %windir%\System32\SMI\Store\Machine Type: Attrib –a –h –s *.TM* Type: Del *.TM* NOW REBOOT! After reboot updates should install
  2. Hi, I have this problem in the past also where updates suddenly won't install. Last time it happened I had to reinstall Vista after having been through endless rounds with Microsoft Support. This morning it happened again. 7 of the 8 new updates fails with error code 80071A91. I have tried to do one by one, and also to install them by downloading them manually, but no go. Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestion for how to fix it, or do I have to go umphtyfive new rounds with MS support? //C
  3. It told me to reboot, so I didn't get to see it for very long, and I'm afraid to try again at this point. It was something about not being able to do something with resources like "unsucessfully reshacked" for a dll, but I do not remember the exact text and which dll, but I think it was the first one in the list than needed reloading. //C
  4. Hi, I have run Vize under Vista SP1 without problems. However, after having uninstalled SP1 Vize wants to reload tons of files, but when I try to do that I get an error message and Vize tells me to reboot. Should I just uninstall Vize at this point and wait for SP1 to come out before I run it again, or is this a known problem with a solution? //C
  5. Hi, I installed the Vista SP1 RC without any problems in Vista itself. However, I see one annoying problem: The Flash player/plug-in crashes the two browsers I have tried running so far: IE7 and Safari. Suddenly the browser hangs and Vista shuts it down. The first time it happened Vista pointed to the Flash player. I have tried to uninstall Flash and the problem goes away. Seems like Adobe needs to update Flash before SP1 gets widely deployed. Anyone else here seen this problem? //C
  6. Hi, I just installed Vista SP1 without any problems. However, Vize pops up and wants to reload a bunch of files. Is Vize compatible with Vista SP1, or should I wait? Also, if I choose to uninstall Vize will the before SP1 files be restored? In other words, will I damage my SP1 install if I uninstall Vize at this point? //C
  7. Hi, I have been using this for a couple of weeks now. What a great piece of software! A couple of suggestions though to make it easier to use: 1) File association: I would like to be able to associate urt04 profile files with the program and thereby be able to click on a profile file and have the program opened with that file loaded. I have tried to associate utr04 files with the program, and the program does open when I click on the file. However, the profile isn't loaded. I still have to load it "manually". 2) Give the program a distinct icon instead of the very generic one it has now. 3) Remember the last directory you saved files to. Now it defaults to the program directory. If you save profiles and reg/inf files to another directory, you have to navigate to it in the save dialog every time. I know these don't really add to the functionality of the program, but when you find something you really like you pay more attention to detail. That's what has happened to me in this case.. //Christian
  8. Hi, One tweak I can't get to work is the "Disable ALL Balloon Tips" one. I have it checked, but have annoying balloon tips popping up all over the place... //Christian
  9. Sure clears things up! I'm really impressed with the program even though it's not for Windows novices. I have dumped all other tweakers for this one. //Christian
  10. Hi, I really like this tweaker. Since I'm new to it a couple of questions: Most tweaking programs have tweaks like disabling DOS files names and unloading of DLLs. This one doesn't as far as I can see unless they are present but described differently in this program. Are tweaks left out of this program considered unsafe and therefore not included, or are they simply not considered important? I would really like to depend on one tweaking program. This one seems that it could be it, so I would like to know how complete it is. //Christian
