  1. 200 Hotfixes!!!!! wow I don't know what OS you're updating, but I suggest you to install latest service pack, (XP with SP2 needs only ~61 updates so far, -including september hotfixes-).

As for troubleshooting your hotfix problems, bluescreens is right, take a look at your C:\Windows folder an open the KBXXXXX.log file in notepad, where XXXXX is the KB number you were installing when the problem occured, that will tell you what the problem was.

  2. @LeveL

Now that Opera 9.01 Build 8552 is out, what would be the parameter for spanish language setup? This:

    Opera_9.01_International_Setup.exe /s /V"/passive CREATE_DESKTOP_ICON=0 CREATE_QUICKLAUNCH_ICON=1 CREATE_STARTMENU_ICONS=1 MULTI_USER_SETTING=0 INSTALLER_LANGUAGE=es"

    ??

    TIA

    EDIT:

Nope, that won't do it, the correct syntax is:

    INSTALLER_LANGUAGE=es-la

  3. yes you can, i use the list view, it involves the following registry keys. Export this keys from your computer (using details view) an tha'll do the job.

    ;list view for Explorer
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams]
    "Settings"=hex:09,00,00,00,03,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,e0,a5,1f,0e,73,35,cf,11,ae,\
    69,08,00,2b,2e,12,62,04,00,00,00,04,00,00,00,43,00,00,00

  4. May I ask a question?

Why try to integrate? I've read several threads in this forums that point some problems and/or bugs when integrating this fix. Personally I don't see any advantage on integrating it, I use a very simple and well proven runonceex.cmd method:

    REG ADD %KEY%\010 /VE /D ".NET Framework 2.0" /f
    REG ADD %KEY%\010 /V 1 /D "%CDROM%\INSTALL\dotnet\dotnetfx.exe /Q:U /c:\"install /q\"" /f
    REG ADD %KEY%\010 /V 2 /D "%CDROM%\INSTALL\dotnet\KB917283.exe /q" /f

    And voilá! :thumbup

    Just my 2 cents

  5. IMHO, if you're testing your DVD in a virtual PC, there should be no problem with your disc size, problem will be when you burn it, remember:

    DVD-5 is a single sided single layer DVD that stores up to about 4.7 GB = 4 700 000 000 bytes and that is 4.38 computer GigaBytes where 1 kilobyte is 1024 bytes(4 700 000 000B/1024 = about 4 589 843KB/1024 = about 4485MB/1024 = about 4.38GB) . Video DVD, DVD-R/W and DVD+R/W supports this format. Often referred to as "single sided, single layer"

Of course you can always use a DL DVD ;)

  6. no, we don't have a registry backup, but I was just thinking about system restore, will resetting the system to a previous state do the job? I think the easier way is to know the exact registry key, but I'll try anything

  7. Well, here's the thing: someone created a user account on XP Pro named TEST1, for some reason she forgot the account's password, so I rebooted in safe mode and login as administrator and deleted the password for this account. Now she wants the password back exactly as it was before (turns out it was her brother's laptop), needless to say none of us knows the password. Is there some file or registry key that stores this passwords?

  8. all ofa sudden, I'm thinking i's a virus, but since I have no acces to the OS I can't use any AV and/or diagnostic tool. No software was installed lately, a coleague says he turned it on and went to the bathroom, when he came back, he saw the bios setup screen instead of windows', then he restarted the PC and thats it.

And no, I've never had any problems before

  9. When I turn on my Dell PC (I am sending this message using a second PC), I am receiving the following fatal system error each time:

    winlogon.exe application error

The exception unknown software exception 0xc00000FD occured in the application located at 0x10003bba

click on ok to terminate the program

click on cancel to debug the program

If I click on either of the two options, I receive the following message (a blue screen):
    Stop: C000021a (Fatal System Error)

The windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000)

Then it restarts, and yes i've tried safe mode, F8, domain controller only, etc.....

    TIA

EDIT: I cannot use any diagnostic tool since windows does not starts, I've reinsatalled windows form the dell CD, same situation

  10. I'm having issues when trying to slipstream my SATA drivers to my multiboot dvd, I've followed msfn's guide to do it, but it seems that it only works in a plain CD, I can't get it to work in a multiboot environment. I get the error "xxxxxx.sys cannot be found". I tried copying the .sys file to the boot folders of the dvd, but now it gives me another error message: "the file xxxxx.sys is corrupt"

Has anyone achieved this task succesfully? or will i have to stick with the OEMPreinstal=No/floppy approach?:(

  11. Ok, i've been reading these threads for several days now, I want to slipstream my 3 mobo SATA drivers (Fasttrak, iastor & viamraid.sys) to an unattended disc.

When making a regular XPSP2 Unat CD it works just great :thumbup

The problem comes when trying to do it to a MultiBoot DVD! :(

I've seen this problem posted several times within the board, but there's no 'real' answer for this yet. The problem I have is "xxxxxx.sys cannot be found" message.

What I did was to copy all the .sys files to the boot directories of each distribution, now a new message appears: "xxxxxx.sys is damaged", (or corrupt, i don't know the exact translation for "dañado" from spanish).

Conclusion: I can't get this method to work with a multiboot DVD.

Has anyone found an answer for this yet?
