I just re-installed Win98SE + 98Lite Chubby (instead of Sleek) and it fixed the problem.

I'm having the exact same problem with display properites/advanced. It happens after I install the unofficial service pack 2.0.1. It doesn't have anything to do with the Catalyst drivers because the error happens without drivers installed. Once the service pack is installed I get this problem in advanced properites, and there is no control panel after installing Catalyst drivers. Same problem. I've installed VIA 4-in-1, DirectX 9.0c, SBLive drivers, Linksys wireless drivers, critical updates. I am using 98Lite Sleek to install, but, as mentioned above, the display settings work fine until I install the unofficial service pack. No other problems to mention. I just wish I could get into the advanced control panel somehow.
