Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers
Fernando 1 replied to Fernando 1's topic in nLite
If you have an nForce4 mainboard with the option of using SataRaid and PataRaid ports and if you have created an nForce4 array, you have no chance to install the MS IDE drivers at the beginning or during the OS installation. The only possibility you have is to replace the NVIDIA P-ATA by the MS IDE drivers (for details see my last post) after the complete installation of the OS. -
Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers
Fernando 1 replied to Fernando 1's topic in nLite
Although you didn't mention your hardware config, I assume, that you have an nForce4 SataRaid system. What you mean are the MS Standard P-ATA(=IDE) drivers for the device named "Standard Dual Channel PCI-IDE Controller". These MS drivers are already "in-the-box" with Windows XP. If you want to install them, there is no need for external drivers or files. It is no problem to replace the "NVIDIA nForce4 Parallel ATA Controller" by the "Standard Dual Channel PCI-IDE Controller": a ) open the device manager and open the section IDE ATA/ATAPI-Controller b ) right-click on the NVIDIA nForce4 Parallel ATA Controller and choose the "update driver software" option c ) within the following 3 windows always choose the lowest option and click "Continue" d ) when you enable the option "Show compatible Hardware" within the last pop-up window, you can choose the "Standard Dual Channel PCI-IDE Controller" as fully compatible IDE Controller. e ) after the next reboot you will have the MS Standard P-ATA drivers instead of the nForce P-ATA drivers. What I don't understand is your "Safely remove hardware" story. Which service was continuously plugging/unpluggling my SATA II hard drives? Can't you just stop/disable this "service"? -

The driver package you have used does not have a special SATA driver, but only a SataRaid driver. Are you sure, that you have done all necessary BIOS settings to activate your SATA-RAID ports? Although you don't have a RAID array (2 hdd's minimum), try to activate RAID within your BIOS too. Some mainboards need activated RAID for a proper use of the SATA ports. By the way: The SATA drivers have nothing to do with your used hdd. What you need are VIA drivers for the VT8237 Integrated Serial ATA RAID controller, which is on your mainboard. There are neither SATA drivers for Samsung disks nor for Samsung SATA SP0812C. When you have done the needed BIOS settings and loaded the correct VIA SataRaid drivers, you can work with every SATA hdd (unless SATA2 ones, because your board doesn't support them). -

If you don't have a RAID, why do you want to integrate the SATA drivers as TEXTMODE drivers?Windows XP with integrated SP2 normally detects SATA hdd's automaticly during setup. You can test ist by booting off the XP CD without pressing F6. -

That was not necessary. The reason why your IDE DVD-ROM disappeared after the installation of W2k3 was an incompatibility of your IDE device and the nForce Parallel ATA Controller. There are 2 easy ways to solve the problem. At first you should look for new firmware of your IDE DVD-ROM device and - if available - flash the new one. If there is no new firmware or the firmware update does not change anything, you should replace the nForce Parallel ATA Controller by the MS Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller. Open the device manager and then the section "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller". Then do a right click on the nForce4 Parallel ATA Controller and click "update driver software" > "Browse my computer for driver software" > "Let me pick from a list..." When the option "Show compatible hardware" is enbled you now can see the "Standard Dual Channel PCI-IDE Controller" as fully compatible hardware. Choose it and go ahead > Done. After the next reboot you will see your IDE DVD-ROM within the device manager. -

If you are using the OemInfFiles method to enforce the installation of not correctly digitally signed drivers (as the nForce SataRaid ones), you should put all files of the LEGACY subfolder into the OEMDIR folder (although not all of them are really needed). If you have no LEGACY subfolder, you may take the content of the SATARAID subfolder, but you have to add the NVATABUS.INF (from another package) and the files NVCOI.DLL and NVATA.CAT (from the SATA_IDE subfolder). The OemInfFiles method does only work, when you additionally create a file named WINNT.SIF (situated in the I386 folder) with an OemInfFiles section. This section should look like this: [OemInfFiles] OemDriverFlags=1 OemDriverPathName="%SystemRoot%\OemDir" OemInfName="nvraid.inf","nvatabus.inf" -

No no no Fernando Obviously you can't readI never said I installed an OS on the RAID0 array *sigh* The 400GB RAID0 array has no OS, is full of data only, a seperate PATA hard drive has the OS. This is the third time I've mentioned that fact right there! I know the risks with RAID0, however I believe there is software out there that could fix my problem. Has anyone used R-Studio to deal with a RAID0 array? I can read, but I don't understand you. What has your problem to do with this thread? I am not a data recovery expert and I doubt, that such a person will read your posts within this thread. -
As you may see within my signature, I have the same mobo as you. I just have tested the integration of the nForce SataRaid drivers by using nLite 1.0.1 Final - with no problems at all. So your endless reboots must have another reason. pretender69 is right: It's better to use the single driver method with the nForce SataRaid driver integration. I mentioned this within my guide.
-
That would be fine.Nevertheless you should know more details about your motherboard (chipset, adaptors etc.). Is this your Shuttle? If yes, your mainboard has an nForce3-250GB chipset and nForce SataRaid ports.
-
As you have a non-Raid system, you should try to boot off your XP SP2 CD without pressing F6 and without integrating any Sata driver. Windows XP SP2 should detect your Sata hdd.
-
That's really interesting. I will test nLite 1.0.1 Final and look, what happens. Thanks for your reply! CU Fernando

You probably know about the problems of the Maxtor SATA2 hdd's with nForce4 chipsets. Did you flash a firmware update or did you switch the SATA jumper to SATA1? When you integrated the nForce SataRaid drivers, why didn't you follow this guide? You won't find any notice about the 6.86 chipset driver package, because some users reported about problems with this new package.

Can you boot in safe mode (F8 option)? Please give us some details about your hardware configuration (mainboard chipset, hdd config etc.) and the OS you are trying to install.

Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers

If you can get acces to your datas, you should burn a CD or a DVD with all your important files. I can't access the data ! That's the problem ! XP just bluescreens when I connect the drivesHave you even read my posts? ah whats the use I read every post, although there are a lot of them from different users. Now back to your question: Before you decide to create a RAID, you should know, that you can't save datas from a broken or corrupt RAID0 array. That is the wellknown risk with RAID0. As I understood your posts, you were not able at all to install an OS onto your corrupt RAID0 array. Why do you want to save datas from a fresh install, which you never got running? -

I hope, that you didn't always have used nLite 1.0 Final. This version had an issue regarding the TEXTMODE driver integration (see some postings above).Did you get the same results with nLite 1.0 RC8 or nLite 1.0.1 Final? If you can get acces to your datas, you should burn a CD or a DVD with all your important files. -

Thanks for your notice.I know about the new nForce driver package, but I have not tested it yet. Furthermore the chipset driver package 9.34 and the nForce package for Vista Beta2 do contain newer IDE drivers (v. 667), which are compatible to all nForce4 chipsets too. -

There is no need to install Windows XP, if you want to check the integrity of your hdd's. DOS sees all your disks. Can you boot in safe mode? If yes, uninstall the NVIDIA drivers again und reinstall the 6.53 driver package (just to allow XP to see the RAID array). -

@ all nLite 1.0 Final users with problems integrating the nForce SataRaid drivers: If you get a message like "Setup can't find/copy file xyz", this might be caused by an issue of the Final version of nLite 1.0. For details look here . My suggestion: Take nLite 1.0 RC8 until Nuhi has fixed the problem. -

You obviously have a problem with your hdd's and/or with different boot sectors (MBR's).Check your hdd's by using Checkdisk and look into your BIOS for the Hard Disk Boot Priority (there you can choose, from which hdd you want to boot, that is something else as the Boot Drive Sequence). Which of your hdd's is drive C? Do you have more than 1 MBR? When you want to install XP onto a non-Raid-hdd, you should neither hit F6 nor integrate any nForce SataRaid drivers. Just install XP and - after having done it - install the nForce chipset driver package suitable for your chipset by executing the SETUP.EXE. Then XP will see your Raid partitions. 1. You can't do the F6/floppy method with new nForce SataRaid drivers (from a chipset driver package 6.65 or higher). For F6 nForce SataRaid driver installation you should take the 6.53 package.2. The nForce SataRaid driver integration method by using nLite or CD Creator is proved by thousands of users with different systems. It works for all of them and will work for you too. Maybe your burner is not OK or your burning speed was too high. You obviously have a CD/CD Burner problem. Check your CD Burner or burn a new CD with lower speed. -
Integration of nvRaid drivers into XPx64 and W2k3x64

Go to nvidia's site, those are the drivers I was using. On NVIDIA's site are a lot of different nForce chipset packages. Which version did you take? I ask this, because NVIDIA is presenting 64-bit packages on their FTP site without any 64-bit drivers. As a consequence these drivers do not work at all with XPx64 or W2k3x64. That is the reason for my warning within my guide: Don't use one of the specially for W2k3x64 designed 6.69 packages NVIDIA has on their FTP-Server, they don't contain 64-bit drivers! -

You probably have done something wrong (for example using 32-bit drivers for XPx64 or pressing F6 during Setup). Please give me some informations about your system (sort of nForce chipset, number and sort of hdd, sort of RAID etc.) and the nForce SataRaid driver package version you tried to integrate. -

Yes, you should either take an XP CD with integrated SP2 or you have to integrate SP2 into an original CD before you start integrating the nForce SataRaid drivers. An integration of the nForce SataRaid drivers into an XP SP1 version does not work.
