  1. For some reason I am not going to say I need to swap my Windows partitions in a different order. All three partitions are located on a RAID0 system and I am probably going to use a boot disk made by Acronis to manage everything. The question is how can I easily recreate a bootloader afterwards without having to type all those BOOTREC and BOOTSECT commands? Is there anything better you want to suggest to do the whole process? The situation at the moment is this: Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Windows Vista Ultimate x32 Windows 7 Ultimate Release Candidate x32 and I would like to have this instead: Windows Vista Ultimate x32 Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Windows 7 Ultimate Release Candidate x32
  2. Yesterday Windows Update fixed all issues but the ones below: Dunno what to think about. Please help!
  3. Since 3-4 days I am struggling at fixing some major problems I am having with my OS. If I right-click Desktop icons the EXPLORER.EXE task freezes and I have to kill and reload it. If I press SHIFT+CANC to instantly delete a Desktop shortcut/file/folder the same happens. If I click on the Windows Explorer icon in the Quick Launch nothing happens. If I open Windows Explorer in any other way, whenever I click on a subfolder in the right pane a new Windows Explorer window comes up although I choosed not to open that way in the options. I have tried to scan my system with whatever I could think about: KAV 2009, Spy Sweeper 6.x, SpyBot S&D, HiJackThis, AdAware FREE and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware v1.36. They all say my computer is OK. I even tried to check if there were problems with the Context Menu and there were not. Wth else can I try to detect the problem?
  4. I would like that it monitors the source too to detect when the HTPC is on. Source monitoring can be done by hundreds of apps. I think it doesn't exist then, right? Well I am going back to the good old copy&paste.
  5. I don't know how else to say it: I WANT AUTOMATED SYNCHRONISATION! If it has to be manual I can do it myself by copying & pasting files like I did until now hehe.
  6. I got the point, but the fact is I don't wanna leave my Vista computer on. I just want to have everything (i.e. TV series, MP3s, movies, etc., etc.) copied automatically in my HTPC as soon as this is on and connected to the LAN.
  7. Yes, but I want everything automated. I don't want to bother at doing sync by myself.
  8. I am not satisfied at all with the Vista Sync Center. I have a HTPC with XP SP2 in the living room and I would that it automatically retrieves the new downloaded movies from my other computer with Vista. What is the best synchronization program around?
  9. I just noticed after 1 year (lol!) that the Last Modified column in Windows Explorer shows only the date and not also the time like in XP. How can it be showed or what other column should I add?
  10. I think I bought it in 2002, but it works flawlessly on XP.
  11. I already tried a forced installation. The printer is detected, but then it just doesn't print at all. I don't want to spend another $ 200-250 for a new laser printer so I guess it's no Vista until there's a solution.
  12. At today there's still no Vista driver for my Epson EPL-5900L laser printer. As I don't want to buy another printer (and maybe get the same problem with future OS!) I was wondering if there was an alternative solution to get my printer working with Vista? Consider that it has a USB/parallel port only so no network card.
  13. Yeah, it looks impossibile to me too to locate the cause of the crashes. I think Windows has simply been messed up as I install/uninstall lots of stuff. I am probably gonna reinstall everything. Thank you for your cooperation
  14. Yep, I even cleaned all Registry entries and files/folders left around in the HD.
  15. First of all, thank you very much for your help. Here are again the previous dumps in the correct way.
  16. Sorry how can I fix it?
  17. Sorry, I forgot to say I have other 2 win xp partitions and there're no problems at all with WLM. Will do anyway a deep chkdsk scan.
  18. I have latest WLM 8.0.0812 and I am using it for a couple of weeks. Now from one day to another it has become very dangerous for my system. If I try to reboot/shutdown the system, WLM kills Windows suddenly without a BSOD or something else and resets my computer. Same thing happens if I try to close WLM. I post below some of the several different crash dumps and a screenshot of running tasks. :help:
  19. Exactly what I am doing atm and so will I do then in the future.
  20. No way, I need that for my USB/Firewire drives. About the IDE issue I know that, but I also know I have to supply some drivers when Windows installation starts - I am talking about the F6 stuff - otherwise Windows won't detect any SATA / SATA II hard disk. For some reason the setup doesn't use the Microsoft drivers.
  21. What if I want to use the Microsoft drivers and not the nVidia ones? I had to restore the default Microsoft ones, because that f***ing Safely Remove Hardware service was continuously plugging/unpluggling my SATA II hard drives - even the C drive !? - and I had to run the Recovery Console twice... Now I gave a look at the Microsoft driver details and it lists ATAPI.SYS, PCIIDE.SYS and PCIIDEX.SYS. Considering these files how can I integrate them so that the Windows XP Professional installation is able to install on my SATA drives without the need of external drivers? What other file - i.e. .INF, .CAT, etc. are needed for them?
  22. Another solution I found out with Google is you can keep everything in WINNT.SIF. If you press F10 just after it says press F6 to load device drivers, it will take you straight to the recovery console.
  23. Indeed it worked great. Thank you sIn_maxo!! I quote his post also here hoping that people doing a search find it easily out.
  24. "Handles it at" what??
  25. I have found this in the official nLite FAQs: I am gonna try it. Let me know if it worked for you.
