That's a thought. I was hoping to totally automate it with the only interaction being F12 Anyone on problem 2?

1) Unique computernames. I have the SIF file set to ComputerName = %MACHINENAME% and I am calling compname in cmdlines.txt to perform the rename. The problem I have is RIS creating a computer account beforehand under the username of the account I use for authentication. So when the rename is done the computer account is out of sync. I think I may of found the solution to this but confirmation would be nice. Is the CreateComputerAccountInDomain = No the solution at least to delay until I netdom into the domain? [identification] JoinDomain = %MACHINEDOMAIN% CreateComputerAccountInDomain = No DoOldStyleDomainJoin = Yes 2) Joining the domain under a specific OU. I have tried countless times to get this to work correctly to no avail. My SIF file is set to JoinDomain = %MACHINEDOMAIN% as shown above. I then run netdom under cmdlines.txt to join the domain. The domain shows up correctly on the workstation but AD doesn't like it. My domain is company.com and the OU structure is as follows; Hosting Reseller Company1.com Computers Company2.com Computers Company3.com Computers The only command-line that works for me is; netdom join %ComputerName% /domain:DOMAIN /userd:USERID /passwordd:PASSWORD Any attempt to include the OU's fails. Through my experience I would have to say the regedit is the way to go, purely on ease. reg command is handy to remove and add simple entries but more complex ones like the quick launch can be a pain to convert. How about everyone else?

I am sorry if I have not been clear. There are two different methods to apply this tweak. 1) You can use regedit to import a reg file. 2) You can use the reg command. The reg command in dos cannot have \ , in it and must be on one line. I have tried both and they work. Does that clear it up kenneth?

It will work in a reg file because at the setup screen we are using the default user ntuser.dat file. regedit /s d:\misc\tweaks\qlb.reg for example. If you dont want to do that then put it in the cmd file like: reg load HKU\TempUser "C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\ntuser.dat" for example We have to remove the \ and , because reg command wont work with them. Both work it is a matter of preference. To have another reg file is one more file to worry about I use the reg file because I use the details view and status bar tweak as well. To convert without \ , is a pain and I figure more of those kind of tweaks will come. So just leaving it open for future changes.

Sorry web it is a cmd file. I just put it in my installs.cmd.

One more thing, you will have to install a build from scratch for this to work. If you have not run in cmdlines.txt and you log in you cannot then run the tweak. It needs to be done before anyone logs in.

You must run this in cmdlines.txt portion of setup. This will enable the quick launch in all profiles including administrator.
