  1. I'm a chemistry student, and I just use superscript and subscript, and MS Equation 3.0. If you want to draw structures, I'd recommend ISIS Draw 2.4 (free if you're a student). You can embed them into word, but as pictures. It's more suited to drawing structures, but if you write something like C6H12O6 it'll subscript the numbers automatically, and it has all sorts of arrows and other stuff you can use. If you can't download it because you're not a student at university, the alternative is ACD ChemSketch, which is shareware but the free demo has more than what you'll need (the fee is to access databases). Hope this helps.
  2. The best way to do it is to save it as 32-bit PNG. Then open it in MS Paint and immediately save it as a 24-bit BMP. But it will actually save it as a 32-bit BMP. You can check this in the file properties. I've done this and it works fine (for making Visual Styles). The transparency in BMP32 appears black when you view it in most programs.
  3. Sorry to revive this thread, but I have a problem I can't sort out. I edited ntoskrnl.exe with Resource Hacker to make a new bootscreen and it worked fine until I did some major cleaning up a couple of weeks ago. So I re-edited it again, and replaced the one in System32 using "Replacer". But it does not show up when I boot up. The one in dllcache is also my edited version. I did a search for ntoskrnl.exe and there are 16 copies of it. Lots are in LastGood and LastGood.tmp, which I suppose is normal, but something I had not previously noticed is some that are in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\xxxxxxxx (a bunch of numbers). The odd thing is that none of the ntoskrnl.exe files on my PC have the bitmaps necessary for what I'm seeing when I boot up, namely the bottom left and right, which say © Microsoft Corporation 1985-2000 and Microsoft. None of them are there, and in their place is simply a black bitmap, which is what I did. But I never copied them to all these folders. Which kernel is it starting up? I can't find the **** thing. Any help? Cheers.
