1. Hi there, After failing to solve my earlier approach to this problem I'm trying a new method. What I'd like to do is open a shortcut by opening the corresponding lnk-file with an executable. Why so difficult? Because I need to be able to open the links using this method, and unfortunately just using the lnk-file itself just doesn't work. So does anyone know of a Windows executable to accomplish this, or perhaps a third-party program? I'd really like to solve this problem, so any help will be greatly appreciated! Any other approach too, by the way...
2. Still not resolved, but here's what I got so far: %systemroot%\explorer.exe /e,::{208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D}\Entire Network\This opens the Entire Network instead of My Network Places which I posted before. Not what I want, but closer to what I want nonetheless. The strange part is that anything I try to add after this will result in an error saying So this seems to be a dead end. I also found two lists (1,2) but none of the relevant options listed there work for me. Microsoft Network {00028B00-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} appears to be an invalid CLSID, Network Computers {1f4de370-d627-11d1-ba4f-00a0c91eedba} points to network search results (which is, of course, empty) and Network Connections {7007ACC7-3202-11D1-AAD2-00805FC1270E} allows you to view properties of LAN connections but not the Windows Network. So nothing there either. I wouldn't have guessed it would be this hard to accomplish this. Perhaps someone knows of a different approach? Cool, thanks!
3. Thanks for the replies. The problem has not been solved yet, though... I have searched Google for several variatons of "CLSID Computers Near Me", but without any success. I really appreciate your example and the small correction, and will continue looking for the answer, but any hints you can give me on where to find it? I'm not trying to... What I want is to make Windows Explorer open in the computer's own workgroup. But still, if Windows is able to link to a workgroup with a single lnk-file, then I should be able to do that with the registry as well, don't you think so?
4. Hi there! I want to create a custom icon on the Desktop using namespaces. This icon's default action should be to open Windows Explorer at the location of the local workgroup, say "MSHOME". Does anyone know the command to launch Windows Explorer and directly open workgroup MSHOME? The closest I got so far is this command to open My Network Locations: %systemroot%\explorer.exe /e,::{208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D}The problem is that a workgroup doesn't have a GUID and therefore I need another method to link to it. Any ideas? Note: I know how to create an ordinary shortcut to a workgroup, but that is not what I'm asking for right now, since I need to be able to do this by editing the registry only. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
5.
Still there is no hacked file for SP2? [post="332838"][/post]
+1 I'd love to get my hands on a SP2-compatible version of sfcfiles.dll. I don't like the idea of removing WFP, but this solution would be great since it remains active! Bas.
6. Google directed me to this topic for my problem, and I read ALL posts in this topic, but there's one thing missing now... I'm looking for a SFC_OS.DL_ which enables deleting the empty folders in the Program Files directory. I'm using a Dutch Windows XP SP2 build 2180. Has anyone got a copy of the hacked version of SFC_OS.DL_ lying around? All links in previous posts are either to disable WFP (I don't want to disable it) or dead. I've already looked at RyanVM's files but that one is also to disable WFP. I don't dare hex-editing the file myself just yet... All help will be greatly appreciated! Bas.
7. Hi there, I was hoping my first post would be less trivial then this one will almost certainly turn out to be... Anyway, I started making my own unattended cd using the Unattended CD/DVD Guide. I have succesfully integrated SP2 and most post-SP2 hotfixes. A few hotfixes, however, require an addition to the registry. I have read a lot about what to add, and it seems simple enough, but one question remains... where should I add it!? The Regtweaks section in the Guide I mentioned before has not been completed (doesn't exist?) and searching this forum for a proper instruction hasn't resulted in anything useful yet. Sorry for this simple question, I hope to be contributing a lot to this community in the near future. Greetings from The Netherlands, Bas. Edit: Hmmm, I have found something, but it seems to be a debugging thread instead of a guide/howto/tutorial. Needless to say I did find the two sticky topics about registry tweaks, but those are just things you can do with them, not how to do it. Edit 2: After more than an hour of searching it came to me... I don't need the Regtweaks Section in that guide, do I? I assume that section is meant for specific tweaks, not as a tutorial. So am I correct to conclude that the Batch Scripting Section is all I need to add/modify/delete registry entries and silently install apps? If anyone could confirm that, I would be the happiest guy on this forum at this moment! Any links to other tutorials/howtos/guides are still greatly appreciated. Sorry for any inconvenience.
