i changed the registry value to service pack 3 but still the dialogue box shows service pack 2 i think this trick also also invain.

didn't worked by editing sysdm.cpl from xpsp2res.dll to xp3res.dll

those version message, build message and windows xp messages can be modified by using resource hacker. so please do not ask me to edit "sysdm.cpl" using res hacker. the service pack 2 message i didn't found in sysdm.cpl thanks in advance

I want to which file is responsible to display this message i want it to be displayed "service pack 3" just a fake eheheheheh

Thank u all for the reply,,, posted in "gosting xp image" Finally i got the solution and i want it to share with u all ************************************** Install XP with drivers and softwares 1 CDrom drive -->support folder--> deploycab---extract all files to c:\sysprep 2 run setupmgr.exe 3 Create sysprep installation answer file 4 Run sysprep 5 minisetup + pre activated + shutdown 6 reseal computer will be shutdown Restart ur pc with startup disk Delete pagefile.sys (to decrease the image file) Delete *.* c:\windows\system32\dllcache (c:\ = root dive) creat ghost image in dos mode transfer that image to a new hardware PC Done *************************************

i am not searching excuses over here, those funky tricks i also know, i just wanted to make a universal XP ghost image so that it can be cloned to any hardware PC Don't post saying " it can't be dont" or if u don't know the exact solution i appreciate the tough answer .

i also know that it can't be don't without special tweaks i have heard abt sysprep and tried also but i was unsuccessful some body told me that .. it is because of HAL whats de matta plz guide me with sysprep tools

basically we creat and restore xp ghost image in the same PC, but my computer is (D845wn, pentium 1.8, segate 40 GB, 640 RAM,) now i want to make ghost of XP installed in this PC to be worked in a new PC of (tamoto 840, 700 MHZ, 256 RAM, maxtor 20 GB). when i restore that image in new p3 PC it failed protection error popup plz guide me p_bhurtel@hotmail.com

internet connection setup icon isn't created directly,, need to make from internet option -->connection tab-setup) mouse speed becomes default after reboot windows component cannot be added. many more..i will expose later

When ever i click to add /remove windows components it doesn't shows any reaction,, whats the matter.

every time whenevey i speed up my usb optical mouse speed(pointer option), it get back to its OS default setting when i reboot my PC. is this a bug on longhorn.
