Disk Cleanup, nothing to do with Dism
Go to start, paste cleanmgr.exe there in Search box.
remove the Service Pack Backup Files
now it is not doing it. It done it 2 day's ago. hmm wonder why
Van read this else ware,
To remove the Service Pack backup files online, run the following command:DISM /online /cleanup-Image /spsuperseded
To remove the Service Pack backup files from an offline image, run the following command:
DISM /image:<path_to_offline_image> /cleanup-Image /spsuperseded
The /spsuperseded option removes the backup files created during installation.
If you wish to simply hide the service pack from the list of installed updates without actually removing the files, use the /hidesp option.

Hi All,
Firstly I would like to thank this forum for the wealth of information it has given me. I have been working with Se7en_UA and RT7 Lite to make a customised Windows 7 installation for my system at home.
Things have gone great and I now have a nicely stripped out Windows 7 install which works fine, but I am having an issue. I have set region and locale in my AutoUnattend.xml file for the United Kingdom, but unfortunately once installed it seems to have ignored my preferences and sets everything up as United States, which contradicts what I have in my AutoUnattend.xml file.
Does anyone have any pointers as to what I could be doing wrong.

You have only set region and locale for windows PE pass you need to add settings to oobe also.

I have an annoyingly unique situation. I need to load machines unattended, but I need to use an original OEM restore disc to do it. this means I can't slipstream any files into a new disc.
I do not want to have to rely on floppies to host a single file that I need (winnt.sif) as I feel it would be unreliable and inefficient. What I would like to know is if anyone has an alternative such as using a ramdrive to emulate a floppy. I have little to no experience with ramdrives, but if its possible I was hoping to create a ramdisk, copy the files to it and then load the CD setup.
Let me know if I'm completely off track.
If you are using original restore cd i,e, oem slp cd then winnt.sif is already on cd in i386 folder.

Hi all,
I keep a fully updated and configured "technician PC" with Win7 Home. From time to time, I sysprep it and then imagex /capture to create a new install.wim
The problem is that this only generates a "Win 7 Home" install.wim! Is it possible to generate a install.wim for a different edition (let's say "Starter") from the same PC?
Thanks
No that is not possible, when you installed only 1 image from Install.wim would have been used i,e, Win7 Home.

It looks a bit old now but I think I managed to do this with the following :
[Data]
Autopartition=1
MsDosInitiated=0
UnattendedInstall="Yes"
[unattended]
UnattendMode=FullUnattended
UnattendSwitch="Yes"
FileSystem="ConvertNTFS"
OemPreinstall="Yes"
Other options ...
[Other sections...]
I had 2 partitions on my HD and this configuration just formated into NTFS the first one leaving the second on untouched.
I will check this when finished and come back if not true.
I dont know what to say: It worked fine the first time (cold start after inserting the fresh CD) ; then I forgot to take it off for the next reboot and I thought that it would redo the format again but NO: The screen was asking wich partition I would like to use :-(
I tried another cold start : nada.
Finally I took off the CD and the install continued with the pre-installed files from the first part !
You don't need to remove the cd just don't press any keys when it says Press any key to boot from CD and setup will continue.

Hi,
First of all, thank you for this wonderful product and all the support you are making about it.
Really.
I have read all FAQ and searched the forum for about 2 hours (~100 topics out of more than 600). Sorry if I missed it. (by the way "CD" is not allowed in searches and should be - as an exception ?)
To make it short :
My Hard disk is good but empty and probably unformated (or badly formated)
My keyboard is curently not usable. This means:
- No acces to BIOS setup to change this (because it requires to press a key)
- Unable to press a key to start installing Windows (Official or nLite'd)
(The keyboard work fine under some Linux graphic OS - Kaella)
Fortunately Boot sequence is CD before HDD.
Now the question:
Is there a way (option, boot file) to create an ISO file that will not require to press a key to allow boot ing from CD ? Did I missed the option ?
I know I will have to be carefull with second reboot.
If it is a matter of just getting a bootfile
My hope is that:
- the mouse will be working
- I will find utilities to acces BIOS setup and enable USB at boot and some other nice feature (touchpad sensivity wich has probably gone far beyond limits).
- If none of above, I hope I will be able to use external USB keyboard and mouse.
Please ignore about clearing CMOS (ACER 5100 laptop)
Many thanks !
WAIT : I JUST FOUND THE OPTION ...
French translation is a bit confusing :
"Enlever le message 'Appuyer sur une touche pour démarrer du CDROM' "
Wich mens (short) "Supress the message 'Press a key..' "
The answer has to be "Désactivé" (Disabled) if we do not want to have to press a key.
I tried and this is as I said. I therefore changed the lang file to have "Afficher le message ..." ("Display the message...")
If you don't want to see Press any key to boot from CD you need to delete BOOTFIX.BIN from i386 folder .

I posted a .cmd file over at mdl and I am on a full install of sp1 now
Did anyone ever get it to work removing other languages and how?
maxXPsoft, I can't find your .cmd file on MDL. Do you use a different UserID there? How about a link to your post?
I am not sure what you mean about removing other languages. I followed the instructions in the MDL thread (searching for en-us, etc) and installed SP1 with no problems. It looks like to me that I have removed all languages other than neutral and en-us. Enjoy, John.
Here is Link to sp1rc.cmd

check this out...an app called win7 theme installer
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-themes-installer-install-windows-7-vista-themes-easily
then this one:
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-7-folder-background-changer-released
and finally:
http://www.instantfundas.com/2009/10/windows-7-logon-screen-rotator.html
so, i was thinking of an app similar to the win7theme installer... ie a theme installer that not only installs themse and changes wallpapers, but also replaces system files with modded versions of the users choice...
but, whats diff from the win7 theme installer is that this app should provide the user a choice to choose upto 10 or 12 versions of moded system files... for eg, say i want to change wmplayer bkground so i change wmploc.dll... this app should allow me to choose upto 10 0r 12 different wmploc.dll files which i have d/l from some site and then automatically replace the current system wmploc.dll with one among the chosen 10 to 12 wmploc.dll files at some set interval, like say every logon.
OR, another way could be to automatically edit the proper resource in this file and replace the bkground with one among the 10 to 12 images choosen by the user everytime windows 7 starts up...
wmploc.dll is just an example. the app should have a similar option for almost all the system files that can be replaced to change some or other look of win7. and each option should allow users to select 1 or more(upto 10 or 12) different mods of the particular file or allow user to select 10 to 12 images which then should automatically replace the proper resource in these files...similar to the wmploc.dll example i gave abov.
the list of files that can be moded is long... often seen in transformation packs and such, though this app should only allow such changes to win 7/vista files only...
also, the app should be versatile, ie, not everyone wants to change all the system files this app supports. suppose i just want to change the bkground of the side panel in the control panel folder and nothing else, then the app must allow me to choose only the relevant file option and image size.
each such system file that can be changed must allow the user to choose upto 10 to 12 different versions of the particular file OR 10 to 12 images so that every time windows logon/boot up happens, your win7 looks different... ofcourse, this means the ability to run every logon must be present...
also, the ability to apply theme, similar to the win7 theme installer;
ability to change desktop wallpaper at set interval but with more flexibility than what win7 provides, ie ability to choose all images from a folder, or specific images from a folder, or even images across multiple folders;
ability to rotate logon background, similar to the win 7 logon rotator;
ability to change start button to a random one among the 10 to 12 user choosen types every time win 7 starts;
ability to do explorer background to multiple folders and option to do the same for their subfolders and change the background to one among the 10 or 12 images choosen by the user for every folder he/she customizes, every time win 7 starts up....
ability to change start menu bkground;
and so on
sort of, THE ULTIMATE WINDOWS 7 THEME MANAGER/APPLIER.........almost like a transformation pack...
havent found anything that comes close. windows blinds does... but it doesnt change wmplayer bkground and so on... no need for flashy effects and things...
Can anyone here do this??? other ideas and additions would be welcome...
sorry to say i'm not a programer but i can atleast imagine, rite?
replies plz, guyz, what do u think??? is such an app possible? if yes, it would be grt to put such an app into ur win7 dvd and get the ability to customize things with few clicks, and then enjoy a diff win7 look everytime the system boots/restarts, possible right after win7 install without having to go thru the hassles of downloading/installing multiple theme managers or skinning apps....One app to do it all.....
Why don't you try making some autoit scripts to use these program rather than asking if these things can be incorporated into Se7en_UA this is not the sole purpose of the program also there is whole section on Customizing Windows

yes....I not yet published the build v1.5 and v2.4
Hi,
why do not release only one release on RT7? Is not possible one release for SP1 and no SP1 SYSOP ?
bYe
How can you release an app for a beta program i.e. SP1 you never know what M$ could change before it is final.

I maybe getting mixed up here but xof is saying OEM not OEM:SLP but they could be OEM:SLP just he hasn't mentioned it
I see what you mean now. Nothing illegal going on here (if that's what you're getting at). I have here 15 custom built PC's and 15 OEM boxes of Windows 7. They all have a different key and need online activation. Does that clear that part up?
If I say auto-activation is not needed I mean that I will do that later on manually... Online activation is indeed needed whatsoever.
I wasn't implying anything illegal, it was when grabben mention autoactivating scripts for windows 7. People on MSFN have been working with OEM SLP cd for years just look at OEMScan - Automated Multi Manufacture Pre-Activation Utility
0 -
This is probably against MSFN Rules but there are kits out there..
If you mean autoactivating scripts for example.. How to label them i dont know..
Probably using scripts that checks biosbrand and then apply name for it.. Problem if theyre all the same.

You make an sfx with either winrar or 7-Zip that does also work.

to force x64 all that is needed is to add _x64 to end of title EX: [ExamDiff_Pro_x64]
I only add the _x64 if I'm installing a 64bit program not if I'm installing a 32bit one on a 64bit OS right?
Yes that is correct.

Thanks maxXPsoft for the new release Se7en_UA6.4.0!
But I cna't download this one because "Norton Internet Security 2010" delete the program when I dowload it!?? (WS.Reputation.1, detected?)
Regards
No problems downloading here using Avast free, obviously false positive can you not just disable norton until you download. Norton is really bad for that Van will tell you himself he used to use it.

Why are you not just saving the registry changes after you have installed and registered your virus checker. Then you would just do virus checker silent install if you have the switches for the program then import your registry settings.
