  1. Files information: - BDANT.cab > Windows NT and 2000 - BDAXP.cab > Windows XP (and 2003?) - DXNT.cab > Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 - BDA.cab > Windows 98 and ME - Directx.cab > Windows 98 and ME /silent with the original dxsetup.exe on Windows 2000 (using SVCPack) doesn't work. There are two errors: GDI32.dll and USER32.dll when running dxdiag ==================================== Guide to make a Silent Directx 9.0C install: 1- download directx 9.0c redist 2- extract 3- replace the dxsetup.exe by the new one here (a user already posted it up there) 4- You can delete Directx.cab and BDA.cab if you are running on Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 5- Start > Run > iexpress.exe 6- select "create new self extraction directive file" 7- select "extract files and run an installation command" 8- title: dx90csilent 9- select "no prompt" 10- "do not display a license" 11- add all the extracted files 12- in the first combobox (install program), select "dxsetup.exe" and add this string at the end: " /install /silent". It now should be "dxsetup.exe /install /silent" 13- select hidden 14- select "no message" 15- choose a path where the EXE install will be saved AND check "hide file extracting progress animation from user" 16- select "no reboot" 17- select "don't save" 18- click next 19- Done! Now you have a full silent install. You can start it where you want (svcpack included). dxsetup_new.zip
  2. I went on this web site: http://jdeboeck.msfnhosting.com/ I downloaded the package and I executed all bat files in the copied windows directory. I burned my cd, installed it without errors and here is the problem: - I cannot use GPEDIT.MSC (getting CLSID 8FC0B734-A0E1-11D1-A7D3-0000F87571E3 error) - There are some strange message about "userenv" that cannot be loaded in windows's journal (RSoP session cannot be save or something like that) I checked during Windows setup to see what was going wrong (Shift+F10 and I opened notepad then setuperr.log in Windows directory) and see what I get (errors): - Windows setup cannot register userenv.dll (error 426) - Windows setup cannot register gpedit.dll (error 426) and much more... (32 total) How can I correct this problem? I tryied to only execute the BAT file remover for IIS "REMOVE! Internet Information Services.cmd" and still the same thing. Thanks you!
  3. they always do nice stuff... SP4 will simply rock but I can't test it right now because French language isn't yet posted
  4. Windows 2003 with poor graphic performance is bad
  5. When I installed ATI Catalyst 3.5, I've got a lot of problems with my card. The most important problem was a super slow down during the navigation like Internet explorer. Scrolling was really laggie... After one day of utilisation, I uninstalled the divers and reinstalled windows default ATI Drivers that come with the operating system (from Microsoft Corporation). I was really bad about this freaky idea to come back with old drivers some I started some research on this issue. Here are the result: For people that got the same problem or others unknown problems, please read the following step: If you just installed Windows 2003, here what you have to do: 1) Enable All video card acceleration first (Graphic card Advanced options) 2) Enable All DirectX Acceleration (DXDIAG in execute command) 3) Install DirectX 9.0a (reboot after this) 4) Install the ATI Drivers (CAtalyst 3.5 > wxp-w2k-radeon-7-90-030605m-009437c-efg.exe) For me, the problem is corrected since all the acceleration are at maximum. BUT, if you still got the same problem here what you have to do (IT WILL WORK FOR SURE!): 1) Where the acceleration slider for the video card acceleration is (Material Acceleration), you will see below a check box named "Writing combinaison activation" or something like that (Sorry... My Windows is a French one). Uncheck this and reboot. Maybe this can cause a very very very little game performance drop but your drivers are going to work.
  6. but here the question: Is it really a bug? Is it to avoid tweaking softwares to be installed? I also noticed a menu delay when removing some items in "New" option when clicking on the desktop (right click). This "bug" semms to be everywhere...!
  7. You probably noticed this problem if you read this post... It appends to me too but on MSFN web site (http://www.MSFN.org/win2k3/tweaks.htm), it gives the answer of this bug... BUT I also noticed a stability issue. Changing the delay to "8" or even by changing it to "50" isn't correcting the bug. Yuo can notice it by opening "add and remove" option in control panel. Even if you changed the value to "8", you will see for sure a strange delay before the list appears. FrameWorks 1.1 also get a huge lag. IIS get fatal errors sometimes. So now, you should avoid to install famous "tweak" softwares because you will have to format your system. Remember that Windows 2003 Server is for server and not for tweaking. I read the post about the conversion (server to workstation). Windows 2003 is VERY different! Absolutly not the same as Windows XP! Be careful by using Windows 2003. Installing common applications can be bad for Win 2k3!
