I have just installed Windows 98SE. The first thing I did before installing any drivers was to install the latest service pack. When I boot up a cd the compter wilth a variety of programs I loaded for the install process, such as USB drivers, etc a percentage of the files are not recognized as zip files. I either get an error meassage saying the file is not a valid Win32 application or I get the "Open With" Dialog. Thinking that the problem was from me burning the cd from Linux I download from my Windows XP and put the USB zip file on a floppy. The Windows 98SE still did not recognize the file as a zip file. Thinking I had a problem with the install I reinstalled Win98SE and tried the floppy again. The floppy still registered as a "not valid Win 32 application." Can someone help me? P.S. I tried to unistall the service pack and it refused to uninstall.
