  1. My advice would be to start with batch. It's the easiest of all the install methods. You can learn all the switches and different packaging methods. Once you've got a working unattended disc you can move onto (Runonceex, WPI, etc). The other methods are not hard once you understand the basics. RideGuy
  2. Hey Buckeye, I'm glad to see that your script has help so many people. I'm still having trouble. I'm using a fresh install of WinXP on VMWare. No programs have been installed at all. When I run the script imediately I get this message: "For imformation on usage and command line parameters, see Setup.htm" Then office shrink appears to be doing it's thing. At the end I get I get a "Complete" dialog box that tells: Time to Complete: 7min New Space on disk: 7 MB Number of files copied: 0 Here are my log files: office: 2005-04-17 13:20:43 : 2005-04-17 13:20:43 : <--- LOG OPENED ---> 2005-04-17 13:20:45 : <--- Language Settings Chosen ---> 2005-04-17 13:20:45 : Language: English 2005-04-17 13:20:45 : language directory : 1033 2005-04-17 13:20:45 : retry : &Retry 2005-04-17 13:20:45 : Error window title : Microsoft Office 2005-04-17 13:20:45 : Error : Error 2005-04-17 13:20:53 : Office Source : c:\office\ 2005-04-17 13:20:59 : Office Target : C:\office shrunk\ 2005-04-17 13:21:07 : Office Setup EXE file : SETUP.EXE 2005-04-17 13:21:09 : Office Setup MST file : Unattended.MST 2005-04-17 13:21:09 : Setup File Version:11.0.5510.0 2005-04-17 13:21:09 : Setup File Version: Office 2003 2005-04-17 13:21:09 : <----------------------------------> 2005-04-17 13:21:09 : Source Files Necessicary for setup Copied to: C:\office shrunk\FILES\SETUP\*.* 2005-04-17 13:21:09 : . 2005-04-17 13:21:09 : .. 2005-04-17 13:21:09 : SETUP.INI 2005-04-17 13:21:09 : <----------------------------------> 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : <----------------------------------> 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : Source Files Necessicary for setup Copied to: C:\office shrunk\FILES\PFILES\MSOFFICE\OFFICE11\1033\011\*.* 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : . 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : .. 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : SKU011.XML 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : <----------------------------------> 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : <----------------------------------> 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : Source Files Necessicary for setup Copied to: C:\office shrunk\*.* 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : . 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : .. 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : AUTORUN.INF 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : FILES 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : OWC11.MSI 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : PRO11.MSI 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : README.HTM 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : SETUP.EXE 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : SETUP.HTM 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : Unattended.MST 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : <----------------------------------> 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : Command Run: C:\office shrunk\SETUP.EXE /qb /laceimow "C:\office2.log" TRANSFORMS=C:\office shrunk\Unattended.MST 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : <--- Exclamation Sound Muted/removed: %SystemRoot%\media\Windows XP Exclamation.wav 2005-04-17 13:21:10 : Waiting for 'Error' Window to become visible... 2005-04-17 13:28:10 : 'Error' Window visible. 2005-04-17 13:42:44 : <--- Shrinkage Complete ---> 2005-04-17 13:42:45 : <--- Exclamation Sound readded: %SystemRoot%\media\Windows XP Exclamation.wav 2005-04-17 13:42:45 : <--- TIME Shrink Program running: 22 min 2005-04-17 13:42:45 : <--- NEW SIZE ON DISK: 7 MB 2005-04-17 13:42:45 : <---LOG CLOSED --> 2005-04-17 13:42:45 : office2 C:\office2.log Detected Windows Info: PlatformId = 2 MajorVersion = 5 MinorVersion = 1 ServicePackLevel = 2 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Launch Setup 4/17/2005 1:21:10 PM Recognized command line switch qb Recognized command line switch laceimow ** Switching to new log file passed on command line. ** 4/17/2005 1:21:10 PM Found property assignment: TRANSFORMS=C:\office Found property name: shrunk\Unattended.MST, but did not find equal sign.   3. Sure, - Right click on wrar342.exe and choose "Open with winrar". - Right click on any file in the archive and select "Show Information". - Select the SFX tab at the top. - Click on "Advanced SFX options..." - Select the "Text and icons" tab at the top" - Highlight and copy all the text in the "Text to display in the SFX window". - Close all open winrar windows. - Right click on wrar342.exe and choose "Extract to wrar342\" (or use the folder of your choice). - Open that folder. - Add your rarreg.key file if you have one. - Highlight all files and directories. - Right click and choose "Add to Archive..." - Select the "Create SFX archive" and "Create solid archive" tabs under Archive options. - Select the Comment tab. - Paste all the text you copies from the original wrar342.exe archive into the "Enter a comment manually" box. - Hit OK to finish. Now you have an SFX that will silently install with /S. ECHO. ECHO Installing WinRAR 3.42 ECHO Please wait... start /wait %systemdrive%\install\wrar342.exe /S RideGuy
  4. When I try to add my rarreg.key to the original setup file (using winrar) I get this Message: ! E:\XPCD\$OEM$\$1\Install\wrar342.exe: Cannot modify locked archive Am I doing something wrong? RideGuy EDIT - Never mind. I just learned how to repack it with all the comments from the original SFX. Thanks.

  8. I feel like an id***! I had both OemPreinstall=No and OemPreinstall=Yes under [unattended]. So sorry for wasting anyones time who bothered to view this thread. meihong, using the newest Driver Packs this is what I have under my GuiRunOnce... [GUIRunOnce] command7= "%SystemDrive%\DP\G\Graphics_Control_Panels.cmd" command8= "%SystemDrive%\DP\S\Sound_Control_Panels.cmd" command9= "%SystemDrive%\BTS_DP_cleanup.cmd" RideGuy
  9. Total newb here. I found MSFN about a week ago. Everything has been going very smooth. I successfully created a totally Unattended WinXP disc that contains all the hotfixes and drivers from Gachrat's Driver Packs. I followed the instructions for add the Driver Pack carefully using Method 2. It seems to install the drivers fine, accept when the WinXP install is done, just before Windows starts for the first time I get a box that pops up and says "Cannot find C:/BTS_DP_cleanup.cmd...". The file BTS_DP_cleanup.cmd does not appear to be there when the install is finished. The folder DP is there though. On my WinXP install BTS_DP_cleanup.cmd is in the $OEM$\$1 folder so I'm not sure why it's not being copies over. Thanks for your help, RideGuy
