  1. I too am limited to use WinPE for Corporate liscensing reasons. Although I was first successful and most impressed with Bart's PE You've gota love the slick PEbuilder and how easy it is to incert those plugins and automatically burn it to CD. Now if i can just send it to my USB flash drive. I tried Barts PE2USB script and if failed due to file location issues and missing makeboot.exe on the CD. Anyway BartPE seems to be beter by far at the moment, but there is a legality issue which prolly prevents most abiding corporates from using it.
  2. I am working on getting PE to boot from a Seagate 5 gig USB Pocket Hard Drive for work. I also have my own 256 mg PNY Attache flash drive to use in testing. I have used the solution from muevelonyc on both devices. The smaller one is formated as FAT 16 and the 5 giger as NTFS. Both partitions were marked active with the "HP tool" The target PCs are all Dells mostly GX 260 , 270 and 280. I am aware of the limitations of the various Bios USB boot issues and have therefor opted to target only the GX 280 as the test PC. Both USB drives boot and load PE as they should, however, after the "XP" splash screen ticks away at the progress bar for a while.... I am getting the BSOD with an error code of the typical header "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Blah Blah Blah... Technical Information: *** Stop: 0x0000007B (0xf8997640,0xc0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000) Any insight or suggestions would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  3. I prolly wouldn't recomend dissabeling the administrator account. If you are a member of the admin group then just reset the admin password with the computer management GUI. Log in as yourself,, Rclick on MyComputer --> select manage from the flyout menu. In the left pain of the Computer Management MMC expand out the Local users and groups, then click on the users icon and the administrator account will show in the right window pain. (along with the rest of the built in accounts) Just right click on the administrator account and set password.
