  1. Hi There, Well, I have followed the new instructions posted. Everything went well to create the new install. I Removed NAV as I like Symantec Corporate Instead (Less Bulky and MUCH faster). I Will try the install and see if it works without any hitches.
  2. Hi There, Yes, I would Also like to know. For Batch Files, How do you search out the drive letter for the Optical Drive? I Read something some time ago about it. It searches for a specific file then assigns a drive letter for the location it finds. I would like to speed up my installs by not copying the programs (2.5 Gb's) to the Drive.
  3. Ok, I See. Thank you very much! I think I might try your Blank One for small edits. I like the spare machine but it takes 1.5 Hours per test. Make for slow testing of various small refinements and to see if small bugs have been corrected.
  4. Hi Everyone! Ok, I have an Extensive Unattended DVD near completion (As if we are EVER done). I am also new to VM as well. I have been using a spare machine for testing. I am VERY eager to find something simple to test an Install. So, how easy is it to get this going? Can I just install this program and go? Will it use part of my Existing HDD and create a Virtual Drive to install to? Will it remove the Virtual Drive after done testing? Does this affect an existing system in any way when installing the new test? I need this all clarified before enbarking on this Journey if you know what I mean.
  5. I Will look into it. I have the WMP 10 setup with Xplode for install. This is occuring at the T13 Stage. I think there is a Windows Media Hotfox or something. I am going to try and narrow it down. Ok, I Found what it is.... This Hotfix gives the message. It must be an update for Media Player 10. This is what I have in my SVCPACK.INF KB891122.exe /q /n /z Is there a way to do the system restore disable with it? ***UPDATE*** Ok, I added the /DisallowSystemRestore to the end and no more problem Here is the Final Entry that works perfect. KB891122.exe /q /n /z /DisallowSystemRestore
  6. Hi There, During Install just after setting up Network Options I get a message that System Restore is off and to hit Ok to continue. This is caused by one of the Hotfixes I think. Is there anyway to Disable this message or stop it from appearing? My Install works VERY well but this would be nice so the Install can continue when I am not available to click "Ok".
  7. Hi There, I tried to search it up, but no luck. I have seen it before, What are the commands to search for the CD Drive during Batch install. I want to install software from CD. This will save on install time, so it won't copy EVERYTHING to the Hard Drive. I USe Xplode to Allow Software selection, and sometimes I do a "Lite" Install with nothing. I think there is a way to search for a Certian file and then when it finds it you can assign that location a Drive. That way whatever your CD Drive letter is it will still be correct. Thanx!
  8. Thank You Very Much!!! I really appreciate it. I heard rumors about the drivers but the only problem is that the Manf. specific programs will not run. As an example, Gigabyte (GN-WPKG) has I have (actually 2 of them), the Gigabyte connection software says that the LAN is not Present. So once again, you make a sacrifice. I STILL stand by my opinion that x64 is only good for Servers at this point that do not rely on drivers from a large number of Peripherals.
  9. Ok, I have sat and listened to every opinon known to man.... So Here's MY 2 Cents! Is x64 a good OS? YES Is x64 Good For the Mainstream For a Basic System Only Does x64 Drivers have a long way to go? Without a Doubt! As an example, try and find a Wireless LAN x64 Driver that works! Good Luck!!!! Does an AMD Athlon 64 Run Faster Than an equivalant Athlon XP on 32-Bit OS? Yes, but it is NOT totally the Processor. the MB actually has a larger impact on Performance. This is in regards to people upgrading to an x64 Processor. Primarily the Chipset I am refering to. As far as x64 goes at this time. It is an AWESOME choice for Servers (Such as Sever 2003 x64) It is ALSO in my opinion that currently we are on a learning curve for Driver's and that the Primary goal for Windows XP x64 is actually to pave the way for better quality Drivers, and to give the Industry time to Fully adopt 64-Bit with Vista x64 being the True 64-Bit child that we should look forward too. Windows XP x64 is only our FIRST step on the long road ahead.
  10. Hey All, There is a line in the WinNt.sif that will do it. [Unattended] UnattendMode = GuiAttended UnattendSwitch = Yes OemPreinstall = Yes OemSkipEula = Yes FileSystem = * WaitForReboot = No NoWaitAfterTextMode = 1 NoWaitAfterGUIMode = 1 TargetPath=\WINDOWS DriverSigningPolicy = Ignore --------- This line right here NonDriverSigningPolicy = Ignore --------- Also This One I think Hibernation = No TimeZone=010 I Hope this helps! Also, I am still at a loss to solve the multiple filename problem.
  11. Ok, No Dice. Maby the old one you could. Anyone have any other options?
  12. Ok, I will try that. Thank you!
  13. Hey All! Good question for you. I have NIS2005 but I like to use Symantec Anti-virus Corp 9. How Can I install NIS and omit the NAV portion? Is there a switch for it? Thanks!
  14. @Bashrat Interesting. Wasn't sure if it was on purpose or not. No Big Deal. @Erik Great. Well, if I get some time I might start experimenting with it. I like the idea. Is it more difficult to setup and organize or is it Straight-Forward? I havn't been following too closely on the method.
  15. Hey! @Bashrat Well, I never actually made a Tutorial Yet. I just posted my method. But if you would like, I can make a full tutorial for you to post. Also, I like the idea of a Drivers Disc as well. That might be a great solution for full driver support. But, that's another thought for another day. Also, I think maby we should have a Vote for who uses what method to get an idea overall what people seem to like the best. Just an idea to help us focus on what people want. Or maby I am just
  16. Hey There, I would do the Traditional Mass Storage Method. It works great and it is not a big deal for space. I am not familiar with that driver, but I know Bashrat forgot to include the SI3112 SATA-Link and SI3114 SATA-Link drivers. He had the RAID but not the regular ones. I made the addition for my DVD. I know you dont NEED the drivers for OS install but it leaves the Drivers outstanding after. This way ALL drivers are installed during detection. B) Next... Ok, Do we actually have a WORKING Method here yet? I havn't started experimenting with it yet. Anyone with Success or is the method still in it's development stages?
  17. Hey Rogue! You make a very good point! This was the basis of how this all originally started. It was with USB in mind. Then it grew and kept going. I think everyone should look at combining several methods depending on an Individual's specific requirements to keep things lite. @Bashrat Sorry, my bad. I forgot about that small detail! It didn't really cross my mind at the time.
  18. Interesting. Well, I know it IS possible to change the file names and then edit the INF to reflect the new name. Kinda a no-brainer if you look into the file. Anywhere is has the old name change it to the new name.
  19. Hey, Well, I can see there are both Pro's and Cons. for both Methods. I will see how the results turn out on this and see if it is worth all the extra work to integrate it. Like I said, simplicity is ALWAYS the best course of action. The More Complicated, the problems can arise. But I must say everyone is doing some VERY fine work! I Commend all of you for all the hard work!
  20. Hey Erik! Well, I agree with you. Setup does seem to have trouble. I havn't tried to create the problem to find out what will happen. So this is VERY interesting. This method was NOT originally inteded to create a MASSIVE driver database. It was meant to create a Database of Peripherals. They do not have the problem of same file name. It is only Chipset and Graphics so far. WHat I did was use the Traditional method for the simple stuff and then created a new cab for Monitors, USB, KB & Mouse, and all that good stuff. I just recommend being careful and make wise choices when selecting that drivers to include. I mean it is VERY easy to create a 1 GB + CAB file if you try adding ALL drivers. I am not sure how Windows will react (Or slow Down) in creating such a large file. I am still investigating the schalti method. It looks promising to overcome some of our limitations but my problem is that it looks VERY invasive into windows and I question that sometimes. Our method is highly servicable to help maintain a current Database. I am quite happy with our method. Just My Opinion! @Erik Also, Once when I was first learning about integrating drivers I came across a Promise Mass Storage driver that used the same file name as another. I think it was Ultra.sys if I remember right. I went in and changed the INF and TXTSETUP.OEM to reflect the new file name I changed it to and it worked just fine. (To My Knowledge). I even did the normal Mass Storage Integration into TXTSETUP and setup never fussed around. Maby we can modify the Driver in these rare circumstances to aviod a conflict?
  21. Yup. If you go back and read my final results, there is a Step-By-Step for the easy way to do it. B)
  22. Hi There, Well, I put all the INF files in the $OEM$\$$\INF Then added the files to the DRVINDEX and then put a copy of the CAB in the I386 Folder and one in the $$\Driver Cache Then if you made all the entry's for the new CAB as per our Method it will check the CAB during the Install and then reference it anytime there after for Device Driver Install.
  23. Hey All! Ok, Just finished catching up. Interesting.... But Why so complicated for the same thing? With MY method in creating the CAB PRIOR to install, you can integrate ANY drivers into it. It then does not require entry's in the WINNT.SIF because we no longer have a ton of directory's. Just a single CAB file. With the extra help we have had in our other Thread to run a simple batch to list all the files so we can copy-paste into the DRVINDEX it only take 2 minutes to create a whole new CAB file from scratch with any drivers you want. Then with this method Windows will see the drivers DURING the OS install and install what is required and then POST install if you do any Pn'P it will ALSO detect the drivers. So I am still confused why we are trying to complicate things further to achieve the same goal..... Or am I missing something?
  24. Hey Guys, Been Really buys lately. Just catching up. Good work everyone. The one like command has really tuned into something else. Now as far as Schalti, I will look into this shortly. Currently I am a little confused though. Our Method works with ANY drivers including monitors and Printers. At least the way I have been doing it, a little easier than Erik's. I don't create the CAB after. I use Bashrat's for Mass Storage only and then use my CAB for everything else. Works Perfect. But, I will read soon about this new method. Well, I read it and I am still not convinced it is any better. Just more complicated.
  25. Hi there, I have been playimg around with NSW2005. It is VERY interesting. It requires you to use the Setup program. If you try and install just the MSI it closes with a message telling you to use the install. What I want is to Install Systemworks WITHOUT Antivirus and Ghost. Then I want to use Symantec Corporate Anti-virus 9 for the Antivirus. If you install NSW first then the Corporate Antivirus 9 it won't install, it also asks to use the install program. BUT... If you install it first there is no problem to get it on but when you install Systemworks right after it without rebooting it will wipe out the Corporate Edition 9. I like the idea of the ADDLOCAL but the NSWSETUP.EXE seems to ignore any switchs you throw at it. Any Help On This?
