Is it possible - by tweaking registry for instance, since I don't like to use 3rd party applications for such stuff - to make Vista taskbar more transparent ? At this moment it looks like that: Comparing to other desktops, my taskbar is not transparent almost at all. I use Business edition, EN. --- And one more question. Is there some easy way to change colors of images of below components: ? Thanks in advance.

I heard with applications like TweakVI or Vista Manager you can increase maximum number of TCP/IP connections. I tried to install that TweakVI, but the feature we're after is not available in free version, so .. Haven't tried with the other one, maybe someone else will.

Well. Yesterday that trick with closing and opening utorrent worked out, but today I did that like 20 times and without any result. So I started to looking out for some other solution and I found it. This way is faster. Just turn off the ICS and then turn it on again - web should start working.

I tried that, but it didn't work. Any other ideas ?

Hi Spooky - thanks for your response. Well, I found another topic on this forum, where people are having similar problem and you tried to help them - without any luck unfortunately. Yes, my Vista is original and was activated. When internet "stops" working (but it does work) I get that "http:/// - the address is not valid" everytime i try to open some site (sites I didn't have problems with opening before that problem occured). Like all those other guys, I use utorrent and ICS, so the problem might lie there. I'm waiting for someone to figure that out. Anyway, thanks for your time and willing to help me out.

It's almost the same, but with added P2P problems, or any other software that wants to connect to the internet for that matter, and has no connection made. I can't do nothing, untill I restart my uTorrent software several times to fix the lockdown. @Spooky: the tweak didn't do anything but slow lockdown occurances down. They don't happen as often as they used to, but they still do happen. Until Microsoft releases a patch (and after the launch of Vista in 31 Jan), users who use ICS will have the same problem, and maybe Microsoft will come up with a fix. Until then, there's no telling what could be wrong, I am still thinking that ICS is the problem. Well.. no one can explain the problem to Microsoft or make them read this post, or even if they see it, we're just some puny little guys from Romania who have this problem, or not? And I also use ICS. After one of those, as you call it, lockdowns I went to the other computer to check, if internet works and it ... had (www, ftp, p2p - all). Till now I had to reboot whole system to make things work again. You're saying all I have to do is restart utorrent (even serval times) to get back things to work ? It's not a fix, but always better than rebooting once a day. :\ If it's about utorrent, then I've go some bad news as this application won't get any newer versions. Author sold it to some big torrent site (BitCommet or something) and they want to integrate it with their network and software. What a pity.

Hi, I'm using final version of Windows Vista Business edition. Everything works pretty ok, but once a day I'm having problems with internet. When I type some address in IE, it changes to something like that (below) and it happens with every website I'm trying to visit: The internet itself still works. I have no problems with p2p, nor pinging sites I couldn't browse before with IE. What's even funnier - I share my connection with another computer in the other room and tere are no problems on it - everything works perfectly, even browsing sites. Anyway, after restarting everything gets back to normal. At first I thought it might have been some problem with IPv6 as event viewer was giving me some errors on that protocol. I turned it off and didn't get any errors no more, but problem with internet occured again. Have any of you experienced similar problem and know how to fix it ?

Hi, I am a student and I use original Windows XP SP2 taken from MSDNAA program. The problem is, I cannot use nLite on it. There are 2 versions of windows on that CD - Professional and Home. I tried to copy that first version to my hdd. All went smooth, nLite saw it, but i had problems during the installation. I couldn't format any partition I created. Installation said that CD might be corrupted or there is not enough memory to do that (format) operation. Normal CD (not nlited) works without any problems, so I really have no idea what might have been wrong. I haven't removed any of components, just wanted to set few tricks for windows plus automatic installation. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong and how can I fix it ?

Recently i wanted to update my bios to newer version, but i had some problems and since i use nlite i thought it might have something to do with that. I was using LiveUpdate appplication and tried to update my bios under the windows (no floppy, so no other way). LiveUpdate downloads bios from the internet, unpacking it and then says that system will be rebooted when it's ready (when bios is ready for install), but nothing happens. I'm having this same problem when I test my iso in Virtual PC. Does anyone know what the problem is? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What's about that Virtual PC ?? Is it something that i can test my iso's on without formating my hdd and install my OS on it ?? If yes, then gimme some clues, where can i download it !!
